Epicenter Festival is relatively a new addition to hard rock and metal festivals like Bonnaroo Music and Arts Festival, Rock on the Range, Lollapalooza and Mayhem Festival. Interesting thing to note is that Epicenter Festival is the brainchild of right Arm Entertainment the same company who created Rock on the Range Festival. Epicenter Festival started in 2009 and since then it has featured some of the best bands on the music scene. The first event in 2009 was held at the Fairplex in Pomona, California. This is a huge ground that is also home to the famous L.A Country Fair. In 2011-12 the venue was the spacious Verizon Wireless Amphitheater. This year again Verizon Wireless Amphitheater will be hosting the Epicenter Festival, this venue is located on 8808 Irvine Center Drive in Irvine. This theater has lawn seating as well as reserved seating capacity for over 16000 fans.

In 2009 at the Fairplex, two stages were erected for this Epicenter Festival and they were named Main Stage and Monster Energy Stage. Artists that performed on the Main Stage were alternative metal bands Linkin Park, Alice in Chains and Atreyu, rap metal and hip hop band Hollywood Undead, DJ "Scratch N Sniff" and rap rock group Street Sweeper Social Club. The Monster Energy Stage featured hip hop and alternative rock groups and artists like Paper Tongues, Aesop Rock, After Midnight Project and Sonny.

In 2010 this festival took place at the Auto Club Speedway in Fontana, California. This was perhaps the only year when the event was spread over two days. On day 1, apart from Main Stage and Monster Energy Stage, a special VIP stage was erected for renowned rapper DMX. Other bands and artists that took part in this event were Bad Religion, The Black Pacific, Rise Against, Suicidal Tendencies, Pap Roach, Crash Kings, Black Veil Brides, The Black Pacific, 30 Seconds to Mars, The Knux, Smile Empty Soul, House of Pain and Biffy Clyro.

From 2011 onwards Epicenter Festival again became a one day music event with just one stage. This year venue was Verizon Wireless Amphitheater featuring bands like Middle Class Rut, Red, Skillet, Papa Roach, Buckcherry, Staind, Asking Alexandria and Five Finger Death Punch. In 2012 the event again took place at Verizon Wireless Amphitheater the lineup included other popular names in alternative metal and rock such as Scars on Broadway, Stone Temple Pilots, Crash Kings, Dead Sara, Bush, Beware of Darkness and Chevelle. The 2013 show will again be at the same venue with Bad Religion performing for the second time after 2012 along with groups like New Beat Fund, Falling in Reverse, The Wonder Years, A Day to Remember and The Offspring. The official partners for this event will be big names like Livenation, Hard Rock Café, Army Strong, World Famous KROQ 106.7 fm, Victory Records, Ernie Ball Music Man and Monster Energy.
