Amos Lee was born as Ryan Anthony Massaro in Philadelphia in 1977, he started writing his own songs and playing acoustic guitar while he was still in high school. He also played bass guitar for an underground rock band but while he was in college he started getting influenced from works of famous jazz musicians like John Prine, Bill Withers and Joni Mitchell. After graduating with a degree in English lee was teaching and also working as a bartender but later on decided to pursue a career in music. Lee released his first self-titled studio album in 2005; it was released by Blue Note Records and charted at #72, #75 and #113 respectively in Austria, Germany and on US Billboard 200. Lee released his second studio album Supply and Demand in 2006 this album reached #76 on US Billboard 200 and the producer of this album was Barry Maguire.

In the year 2007 Last Days at the Lodge was released, this album raced to #11 spot on US Rock Charts and #29 on US Billboard. Mission Bell is the latest work of Amos Lee; this album was released in January 2011 and proves to be his best effort as this is his first and only album to reach the #1 position on both US Billboard and US Rock Charts.
