Allah-Las was formed in 2008 and it took them quite some time to compose tracks for their first LP, Allah-Las - Allah-Las. The band hit the music scene with the release of the single, “Catamaran/Long Journey” in 2011 and followed with two additional singles in 2012. The single “Tell Me (What's On Your Mind)/Sacred Sands” was released in 2012 with the record label “Innovative Leisure” and it gained a lot of popularity. The band won many hearts with their catchy tunes and earned critical acclaim as well. Often compared to music sensations like The Zombies and The Kinks, their songs present an eclectic mix of lo-fi funk and rocking beats that are worth listening to.
Allah-Las released their self-titled LP in 2012 to critical and commercial acclaim. Some of the tracks in the album were produced by the talented LA singer Nick Waterhouse, who is mostly known for his 2012 LP, “Time's All Gone”. The album contained all their previous tracks and nine additional tracks, all of which were enjoyed by the listeners. The best song in the album is “Vis-à-vis” which sheds light on a failed relationship and presents a mix of regret and reluctant acceptance. The album's closing song, “Long Journey” is definitely the most aggressive one, with its unique and springy bassline. Other singles from the album such as, “Catamaran” and “Sacred Sands” have also gained a lot of appreciation.
Allah-Las puts emphasis on breezy and carefree tunes that are pleasant to listen to and are usually enjoyed when relaxing. Their compositions have a peaceful approach and they have successfully recreated the sounds of 60s' psych and garage bands. Following the release of their LP, the band embarked on European and East Coast tour. Their first show was held in London and was hailed by the Guardian as “a blissful 45 minutes on a cold night”. Recently, the band made headlines for their live performance in North America with the Black Angels. On another one of their tours, the band members will be enthralling the audience in New York.
