Here, we want to give you a sneak peak of the past journey of Phish in the world of music. This rock music outfit was established in Burlington, Vermont in 1983 by vocalist/guitarist Trey Anastasio, guitarist Jeff Holdsworth, bassist Mike Gordon and drummer Jon Fishman. While doing jam sessions at the University of Vermont and playing gigs at small venues, the band earned enough praise from music lovers. Meanwhile, some changes were also made in the lineup as Holdsworth left the band and Page McConnell joined the group as keyboardist.

The debut album of Phish, titled Junta, was self-released in 1988. Two years later, they came up with Lawn Boy. However, both of these albums did little good to them. While they have to sell cassettes of the debut album all by themselves during their live shows, the second album never got distributed due to bankruptcy of associated recording company Rough Trade. However, this did not hamper their concert-earned fame and in 1991, they became the first-ever band to sold two consecutive nights in San Francisco's Great American Music Hall.

The rising craze of Phish's live performances earned them a deal with famous record label Elektra, with that they released a brand new album A Picture of Nectar and re-released their previous ones Junta and Lawn Boy. With the releases of Rift and Hoist, Phish strengthened their position in music industry. Indeed, they rocked throughout the 1990s and remained one of the most popular and prolific bands of that era. Their hits albums include Billy Breathes, Stitch & Pass, Story of the Ghost, Slip, Crimes of the Mind, Farmhouse and some recent hits like Round Room, Undermind and Party Time, and The Siket Disc. The live charisma of Phish was captured by live albums; including the platinum certified A Live One, Hampton Comes Alive, and live albums from Madison Square Garden, Brooklyn, Colorado, Las Vegas and other concerts.

Although the studio efforts by Phish were admired by music listeners and critics, however, they always remained famous because of extensive touring routine. In no time, Phish became one of the top ten grossing live acts of North America. However, their fans were highly disappointed when they called it quits in 2004 after remaining inactive for some years. Their farewell concert in Coventry, Vermont witnessed the crowd going emotional and members of Phish broking up several times.

It is said that the passion and love of music never dies and that' what compelled the Phish to come back even after officially announcing a break-up. The group kept reuniting for some awards functions or special shows, however they officially started touring again in 2009. The Phish Festival 8 will be held from October 31 to November 2 (Friday to Sunday) at Empire Polo Fields in Indio, California. The quartet is expected to perform eight sets over the course of three days, including an all-acoustic set on the morning of the third day. Keeping in mind the festive season, they will also play The Halloween Set on Saturday night, ensuring some worth-remembering moments of music, dance and fun.
