The Jake Owen Parmalee concert features a country music star who was born in Winter Haven, Florida as one of twin brothers. Jake Owen participated in various sports at a young age and began playing golf. He went on to go professional and played in his first tournament at the age of fifteen. He studied at the Vero Beach High School and then at the Florida State University. After an unfortunate accident while wakeboarding, he was left unable to play sports. While recovering from his injuries, he began learning how to play the guitar after borrowing the instrument from a neighbor. He began playing at a local bar and then became a regular. Owen also began writing music and then moved Nashville, Tennessee.
In Nashville, Owen stopped at a bank to open a savings account, where he told the teller that he was a singer and songwriter. She asked him if he had any recordings and Owen handed her a CD. She sent it to Warner/Chappell Music and though he wasn't initially signed on, it resulted in him meeting Jimmy Ritchey, a songwriter and record producer. The two were also joined by songwriter Chuck Jones and released a song titled Ghosts. It attracted the attention of Sony BMG leading to Owen being signed onto RCA Nashville. He then released the single Yee Haw which ranked high on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart. It was followed up with his debut album, Startin' with Me and led to his performing with Carrie Underwood and Brad Paisley as an opening artist.
Owen also released a second single from his debut which spent thirty five weeks on the Billboard country charts and ranked sixth. In 2007, he went on tour with Brooks & Dunn and Alan Jackson, as well as released a third single from his debut. He also played with Little Big Town and joined Sugarland on their country tour. A music video of this performance was also recorded and aired on CMT. In 2009, he released his second album which ranked second on the Billboard Top Country Albums and thirteenth on the Billboard 200. One of the album's singles, Don't Think I Cant Love You, ranked second on the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
In 2011, Jake Owen released his third album, Barefoot Blue Jean Night, whose two singles ranked Number One on the Billboard charts. He also went on tour with Keith Urban. In 2013, he released Days of Gold and will be joined on stage by a country music band that goes by the name of Parmalee. Hailing from Parmale, North Carolina, this country band has been playing mind blowing country music since 2001 and released music via Stoney Creek Records. The band has been associated with the likes of New Voice Entertainment and its members are lead vocalist and guitarist Matt Thomas, drummer Scott Thomas, bassist Barry Knox and guitarist Josh McSwain.
Parmalee, who were victims of an attempted robbery and shooting in 2010, when their drummer, Scott Thomas, was shot. They have been featured as an Billboard Bubbling Under Artist and a video of one of their songs was feature on AOL TheBoot. Their song, Carolina, also ranked Number One on the Country Airplay chart.
