Hailing from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Young developed a deep interest in music when he performed in school theatrical productions. He began singing in local music clubs while attending college. Committed towards converting his passion into profession, Young performed at 150 gigs and shows every year. His life took a new dimension when he joined the famous singing reality show "Nashville Star". He won the show in 2006 and that victory earned him a record deal with RCA Nashville records.
Benefiting from his expanded exposure to the industry and recording business, Young launched his self-titled debut album in late 2006. This first record also gave way to Young's talent of songwriting, which he would successfully employ in his future projects. The album garnered positive reviews from the critics and peaked at number three on US top country albums. Singles "Drinkin' Me Lonely" and "You're Gonna Love Me" also made their way to the Billboard charts.
In his second album "The Man I Want to Be", Young took a more mature step and combined traditional country elements with advanced lyrical concepts. It was released in September 2009 and spawned three consecutive hit singles "Voices", the title track and "Gettin' You Home (The Black Dress Song)". The album also included a cover track of Waylon Jennings' hit song "Rose in Paradise", sung with the country legend Willie Nelson. Young got his first Grammy nomination for the song "Gettin' You Home" in 2010 and won a CMT Music Award.
Such warm embracement by the industry encouraged Young to further explore the business and lead live concerts and shows. Due to his music abilities, he became the opening act for many recognized names in the industry such as Alan Jackson, Rascal Flatts and Jason Aldean. Performing with such artists made him learn many positive things about music and live performances and that he well employed in his coming albums and live shows.
Working consistently and harder than ever before, Young devoted his efforts to his third album. "Neon" came out in July 2011 and earned the critical appreciation for its original neo-traditional country feel. The album featured smashing hits "You" and "Tomorrow" that topped the US country chart. Selling more than 70,000 records in the first week of its release, the album eventually stood second on the country chart and reached at number four on the Billboard 200.
His efforts paid off and in late 2011 and Young became the recipient of two American Country Awards for the categories of Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Single of the Year. He got two Academy of Country Association nominations in 2012. Young strengthened his image and repute by proudly working as a brand ambassador for the CMA Songwriter's series. All the successes that he had over the years made him commercially popular and also helped expand his fan base. He toured various destinations throughout the country and headlined major shows along with other well-known artists like Miranda Lambert.
Thrilled by the overwhelming response that he got form his listeners and fellow musicians, Young released a party-country single "Aw Naw" in May 2013. The music video of the song came out in June 2013. The song became quite popular and also marked the release of his fourth music record "A.M." that will come out in September 2013.
Currently, Young is hitting arenas and packing venues along with fellow musicians Brad Paisley and Lee Brice and also doing solo shows. Chris Young tickets give you the opportunity to attend one of his wonderful concerts when the artist comes to your hometown.
