Brandy Clark has emerged as a promising female musician in the country genre. She began singing in 2012 and before that she was a full time songwriter. She became famous for her country folk lyrics that were inspired by her childhood experiences. Her family remains the strongest influence in her life. She was also inspired by the music of Patsy Cline, Merle Haggard and Loretta Lynn.
Brandy had been writing songs since her teens. Her confidence and versatility increased when she joined Leadership Music. This was her first job as a songwriter, where she got a chance to write for mainstream country musicians such as Reba McEntire, Miranda Lambert, Kacey Musgraves, Darius Rucker, Kenny Rogers, Sheryl Crow and The Band Perry. Her breakthrough came in 2011 when two of her songs "Better Dig Two" by The Band Perry and "Mama's Broken Heart" by Miranda Lambert won critical acclaim. Both topped the Billboard Hot Country Songs and Billboard Country Airplay charts. The songs became milestones in her songwriting career.
Brandy further received recognition when she performed as an opening act for Sheryl Crow at the Grammy Awards in 2012. The performance was an impressive one following which she gave two more live performances with Marty Stuart. She shared the stage with Stuart at the Grand Ole Opry's anniversary celebration. The two played again at the Nashville's Ryman Auditorium for the Late Night Jam in November. Later that year, the artist started working on her self-titled EP. It features three singles "Stripes", "Take a Little Pill" and "Pray to Jesus." "Stripes" became a big commercial hit and received positive high reviews from the critics.
Producer Dave Brainard loved Clark's country vocals. He signed her for her debut album 12 Stories shortly after the EP was released. For this album Clark had already penned a variety of songs, each with a story of its own. "Get High", was s porch-style jam, "Crazy Women" was a simple woman's story while "Hold My Hand" was a ballad from a broken heart. All these songs had experimental lyrics yet a very traditional sound. The "dark humor" as Clark calls it is the reason behind the record's success.
The release has been covered widely by the media and praised by the critics. Everyone from the Rolling Stones to the Spin, the New York Post, the Boston Globe, the New Yorker and the American Songwriter have given the album high ranks. Its songs reached high on the list of Spin's Top 50 hits of the Year 2013. Two songs on this album namely "Follow Your Arrow" and "Just Like Him" got rave reviews from the NPR. These songs have also reached record downloads on iTunes and enjoyed very high sales on Amazon.
In 2013, "Mama's Broken Heart", a song Clark wrote for Miranda Lambert made headlines. It bagged a Song of the Year nomination at the 47th Annual CMA Awards. The song was also nominated in the same category at the 4th Annual American Country Awards. It became Clarks first ever Grammy nomination for the Best Country Song.
After the success of her debut album, Brady has been performing live frequently. She recently played the opening act for singer Jennifer Nettles on her That Girl Tour. TV shows such as the Ellen and David Letterman Show recently saw two beautiful renditions of "Stripes" performed live. This summer she is scheduled to join hands with Dwight Yoakam. Together they will play on Eric Church's The Outsiders World Tour. You can catch her live in any one of the shows with Brandy Clark tickets.
Brandy Clark will also be launching her first solo North American tour very soon. The tour has announced sixteen stops in the US and three in Ontario, Canada. Brandy Clark tickets for these dates are on sale. Book them quickly.
