Utah Blaze is owned by automobile businessmen Brett Hopkins Robert Garff and John Graff, and coached by Danny White who has also coached the Arizona Rattlers. The team’s popularity can be judged by the huge crowd of fans attending its first home game, which was estimated to be more than fifteen thousand. The team has a mascot too, camouflaged as a Dalmatian called ‘Chief.’ The team colors are White, Orange and Black. It has played in the Western Division within the National Conference.
The original franchise from year 2006 till 2008 was Utah Blaze. In 2009 the team became Utah Valley Thunder. Starting from 2010, the name was once again changed to Utah Blaze.
The team played the San Jose Saber Cats on the road in their debut game in January 2006. In February of the same year, the Blaze lost to the New York Dragons by a score of eighty four to eighty one. It was the second highest scoring game in the history of Arena Football League, while their performance was also the second highest score by a losing side in the AFL’S 20 year history. Blaze still made it to the post season tournament as the AC wildcard entrant by being the conference’s sixth seed team.
Utah Blaze tickets are available to watch the team live at the arena. The franchise has won the Leagues’ Commissioners Awards, and the Support Staff of the Year Award. In the 2012 season due to the team’s excellent defensive line and strong quarterback sack, they were pinpointed as ‘Sack Lake City.’ Blaze’s game against Iowa Barnstormers saw the team record a league record of 11sacks in one game.
