Game Day Approaching: Heels Aztecs Tickets Released

In the NCAA Division I, one of the upcoming games is the North Carolina Tar Heels vs San Diego State Aztecs, featuring teams from two American universities. The Tar Heels hail from the University of North Carolina, whereas the Aztecs belong to the San Diego State University. These are both NCAA Division I powerhouses, with many national championships and awards won. The Tar Heels are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference in the NCAA Division I, with Bubba Cunningham as the athletic director. Twenty seven varsity teams are part of the program, of which football is played at the Kenan Memorial Stadium and basketball at the Dean E Smith Student Activities Center. Similarly, baseball is played at the Bryson Field at Boshamer Stadium. The program's official colors are white and Carolina blue. Overall, the teams have won forty NCAA National Team Championships in seven sports, ranking them at number nine in the US. Their individual athletes have also won fifty one individual National Championships.

Their men's baseball team has made ten College World Series appearances till day, and have won six Atlantic Coast Conference championships. The men's basketball team has similarly won fifty eight Conference Championships and six NCAA National Championships, with eighteen NCAA Final Four appearances.  Facing them in the upcoming game will be the Aztecs from the San Diego State University. Their athletic program is part of the Mountain West Conference in the NCAA Division I, with Jim Sterk as the athletic director. The university's seventeen varsity teams play basketball at the Viejas Arena, football at the Qualcomm Stadium and are cheered on by their mascot, the Aztec Warrior.

One of the most prominent teams fielded by the San Diego State University is the men's football team. Currently, led by head coach Rocky Long, it has won several Bowl games. Brian Billick, who coached San Diego State University's football team during the eighties was the former head coach of the Baltimore Ravens. Some of the team's coaches have even been inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Their players, similarly, have played for the Cincinnati Bengals, the Green Bay Packers, the St Louis Rams and the Cleveland Browns.

The Aztecs have won National Championships in men's basketball, thrice in men's football, men's volleyball, men's rugby, twice in women's cheerleading and once in dance. Their football team is also one of the toughest in the nation, having won the Poinsettia Bowl. Many of their players have made it to NFL franchises, including Willie Buchanon, Isaac Curtis, Ken Burrow,  Mike Douglass, Gary Garrison and Marshall Faulk.
