Based in Buffalo, New York; Buffalo Bandits play in the National Lacrosse League (NLL), under the ownership of Hockey Western New York LLC. Hockey Western New York LLC is led by Larry Quinn and Tom Golisano.

Bandits play their home games at HSBC Arena located in Buffalo, New York. Before Bandits started playing for NLL, they played in Major Indoor Lacrosse League from 1992 till 1997. The following they became the members of NLL.

In its inaugural season in NLL, Bandits won their first championship, becoming the only team in the NLL history ever to win the championship in their first season.

The following season the history repeated it self yet again, as the Bandits scored their second Championship victory in a row. Their Championship streak was put to an end in their third season, and same happened in their fourth season as well.

Their third championship victory came to them in their fifth season in 1996. After their third championship, the team's overall performance declined and Bandits weren't able to even make it into the playoffs until 1999.

After their third Championship win, Bandits made it to the Championship finals three times in 1997, 2004, and 2006, but the team wasn't able to get their hands on the Championship Title. Bandits' most recent Championship win came to them this year as they faced Portland in the finals and defeated them with a 14-13.

When it comes to North America, Lacrosse is unarguably the oldest sport in the region, originating from 1400's by North American Indians.

During the early days of sport, Lacrosse was considered as the most sacred contest of them all by the natives, and was used to settle disputes among different tribes. Back then, teams were comprised of 100 to 1000 braves and goals.

Now days, Lacrosse has been divided into several types, namely Field, which is outdoor and Box, which is indoor and lastly the MILL games.

Now days the sport of Lacrosse constantly growing, as it is attracting the attention of quite a number of fans and in addition to that several universities and colleges have also incepted Lacrosse in their athletics programs. Since the past few years, significant rises in the colleges Lacrosse teams have also been noticed.

National Lacrosse League features some of the best players in the world, further divided in eleven teams that are playing in United States and Canada.

In the regular season, each team is scheduled to play 16 games, out of which 8 are home games and rest of the 8 are away games. The regular season kicks of in December and concludes in April and that is followed by the playoffs of the Champion's Cup.
