Baltimore City Council's President, Frank Remesch announced the resurgence of the Baltimore Hockey Classic event. The forthcoming hockey spectacle will be taking place once again at the 1st Mariner Arena, also known as the Baltimore Arena. The venue is also known to host concerts with the first concert performance being given by the legendary band The Beatles in 1964.

The Capitals will be competing with a team that shares a similar career, the Boston Bruins. Established in 1924, the Bruins are a Boston based professional ice hockey team. They also compete in Eastern Conference's Northeast Division of the NHL. The Bruins are amongst the three oldest ice hockey teams in the United States, apart from also being one of the original six franchises. With a longstanding career that has garnered a massive amount of twenty four Division Championships, six Stanley Cups, four Conference Championships and a Presidents' Trophy; the Bruins are a force to reckon with.
