Razorlight is UK based music band that comprises of young talent of Johnny Borrell on vocals and guitar, Bjorn Agren on guitar, Carl Dalemo on bass and Andy Burrows on drums.The band is famous for its Rock and Roll status but they keep trying other genres of music as well.

The band enjoys the status of being one of the most important and successful bands of UK in recent years. They have released just two albums till yet, but their popularity in UK and other countries is more than anyone with just two releases behind.

The band started off in 2002 by playing at different bars of London. From this modest beginning to becoming the hot favorite in London, Razorlight has truly come a long way. The band consisted of young and passionate boys with immense talent who wanted to prove their mettle in the music industry.

They used to form their ideas into music in a run down rehearsal room in East London around four years ago. They have big dreams and even bigger energy that made them achieve everything they desired for.

Besides rocking the London bar scene, the band started performing with The Libertines and also worked in Toerag Studio where they made some early tracks of their career. The Razorlight then decided to release their own album. The first album was released in the summer of 2004.

It was tilted ?Up All Night? and contained fourteen tracks. The album became a huge hit from day one and marked the starting of Razorlight era. Songs like ?Golden Touch,? ?Up All Night,? ?Stumble And Fall? and ?Vice? became instant hits.

The album was a fine blend of catchy tunes and lyrics. Adding that was a rock star persona of Johnny Borrell who got much accolades for his voice quality. Other members were no less and they created the same buzz all around.

Basking on the success of their first album, The Razorlight started touring different countries. They proudly held several successful concerts including a performance in Live 8 series of concerts in 2005.They also performed with Queen and Paul Rodgers in front of 60,000 people.

The Razorlight set the stage on fire with their electrifying performance,despite being a new band.However, the superlative performance was yet to come as they played live in a two night stand at the cavernous Alexandra Palace. Razorlight also got the chance to perform with Oasis and The Rolling Stones and went out for their biggest tour till date in October-November 2006.

Razorlight was welcomed as a new rock sensation not only by the audience, but by industry as well. They won the award for Best New Band in 2005 by Q Magazine. NME also honored them as the ?Best New Band.? They could never ask for a better start than this, but it proved just a begging as the best was still to come.

Next came the album that raised their standard to International level. Like the title ?Razorlight,? the album was full of them as it contained the real feel of their music. The album reached at number one spot in all various charts and made huge profits.

?America? was the biggest hit that captured most of the airtime on TV and radio channels. ?In The Morning? was no less popular as it remained on charts for months. The audiences went crazy over singles like ?Before I Fall To Pieces? and ?Hold On? besides other songs.

It is not easy to satisfy both the listeners and the critics, but Razorlight managed to do that as they good acceptance of critics as well. Q Magazine gave ?Razorlight? a five star review and termed it as ?the best guitar album since Oasis?s ?Definitely Maybe?. They were also welcomed by follow artists and bands.

Several music companies queued up to sign them but they opted for producer legendary Chris Thomas, who has handled the bigwigs of music like The Beatles, Pink Floyd and The Sex Pistols.

Razorlight has made it big in the awards circuit as well. They have been awarded with Q Award for Best New Act in 2004, ShockWaves NME Award for Best New Band In 2006 and TMF Award - Netherlands for Best Veelbelovende Act.

They have also got several nominations including two recent 2007 nominations for Best British Group and Best British Single for their blockbuster America at Brit Awards.

The success of Razorlight is surely a result of teamwork by all the four musicians. Johnny Borrell?s beautiful voice and irresistible charm, Guitarist Bjorn Agren?s energetic rendition, the sensitive versatility of the drummer Andy Burrows and the perfect play by bassist Carl Dalemo give this band distinct look and appeal.

All of them have got a fire that guides them to aspire for more. Adding this is their oh-so-sweet arrogant yet humble kind of nature that justifies their super star status. The band has till now done sold out tours in countries like UK, FRANCE, Germany, Holland, Canada, Belgium Switzerland and Netherlands.
