Missing in action since almost a year, the famous Mixtape Festival is now ready to make its return to Hersheypark Stadium. Scheduled to be held on June 27th, the Mixtape Festival is known for featuring a fusion of mainstream headliners and iconic musical acts. Among the artists set to perform at the upcoming festival, only New Kids have performed at every Mixtape Festival taken place till now, while TLC performed at the 2013 festival. New Kids on the Block, also known as NKOTB, is a famous American boy-band formed in 1984. The band is known for their talented lineup which includes Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood, brothers Jonathon and Jordan Knight, as well as Joey McIntyre. The band saw its peak in the late 1980s and the early 1990s, and has sold over 50 million records all over the world, making them one of the best-selling bands of all time. For their fantastic music, NKOTB has bagged two American Music Awards as the “Favorite Pop/Rock Band” and “Favorite Pop/Rock Album”.
New Kids on the Block has been listed on the 16th spot on Rolling Stone's list of “Top 25 Teen Idol Breakout Moments”. Recently, the band scored a star on the “Hollywood Walk of Fame”. Some of their famous scores include, Be My Girl, Please Don't Go Girl, I'll Be Loving You (Forever), Didn't I (Blow Your Mind This Time) and This One's For the Children.
TLC will also be performing at the 2015 Mixtape Festival. Known for producing an eclectic mix of R&B, hip hop, funk, new jack swing and soul music, this girl-band saw most success in the 1990s and the early 2000s. The band marked its entry into the music scene in 1992 with the release of the album, “Ooooohh.. On the TLC Tip” and sold over 5 million copies all over the world. Their debut album spawned several hit tracks including, What About Your Friends, Baby-Baby-Baby and Ain't 2 Proud 2 Beg. The band's sophomore album “CrazySexyCool”, released in 1994, received even more critical acclaim and was certified Diamond by the RIAA. The album produced hit tracks like Waterfalls, Diggin' On You, Red Light Special and Creep, and sold over 20 million copies. That's not it. The band's fourth album “3D” also sold 2 million copies and spawned the hit number Girl Talk. This album earned multiple Grammy Award nominations. TLC has been hailed as “One of the Greatest Musical trios” by Billboard magazine. The band has also been ranked as one of the best-selling American female bands of all time.
Another artist set to amaze the crowd at 2015 Mixtape Festival is Nelly. An American singer, rapper, songwriter and actor, he hit the music world in 2000 with the album “Country Grammar”. Selling over 8 million copies in the United States only, this album remains his best one to date. Some of Nelly's most famous singles include, Work It, Party People, Body on Me, Just a Dream, My Place and Pimp Juice. For all his hit singles, Nelly has bagged a number of Grammy Awards.
The hip-hop trio from Queens, Salt-N-Pepa will also be setting the arena ablaze with their performance. Formed in 1985, this band is one of the first all-female rap bands. Since their formation, the group has won many awards; a Grammy Award for the “Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group” in 1995 as well as many MTV Video Music Awards in categories such as “Best Electronic Dance Music Video”, “Best Choreography” and “Best R&B Video”.
