Memorial Day Weekend Comedy Festival is here in Miami with yet another annual celebration, starring the likes of comedy gurus Red Grant, Cocoa Brown, Shawty Shawty, Corey Holcomb and Bruce Bruce. The festival was held for the first time in 2007 and has since been a sold out event year after year. It has been organized by the cast of the nationally acclaimed Rickey Smiley Morning Show, promised to bring audience the best laughs of the year. As always, the show features an impressive lineup that is enough to entice comedy lovers into grabbing Memorial Day Weekend Comedy Festival tickets.
The first name mentioned in the upcoming Memorial Day Weekend Comedy Festival's lineup is African-American, Atlanta-based stand-up comedian and actor Bruce Bruce, who was brought up the city's toughest ghetto, The Bluff. The artist has been the host of Comic View appearing on BET and has also been part of many standup comedy specials alongside television series. In addition he has been a spokesman for Popeye's Biscuits & Chicken. Some of the films he has appeared in include Think Like a Man, Who's Your Caddy?, Idlewild, Hair Show, The Wash, xXx: State of Union, and Larry the Cable Guy: A Health Inspector.
Performing along with him is Cocoa Brown who grew up in Newport News, from where she moved to Washington DC upon graduation, to work for Feld Entertainment that is known to run Ringling Bros. & Barnum and Bailey Circus as well as Disney on Ice. By 1997, she quite corporate America to pursue what she simply loved and had natural talent for- standup comedy. Soon enough she won the well known Washington Comedian of Years award, which was quite an achievement, given she had only spent seven months in the line. Since she was ten years old, Cocoa has been acting and even completed a minor at VCU's theatre arts. Brought up in Chicago, the artist got his first chance at comedy with the assistance of Chicago-based comedian, Godfrey. He is frequently billed as 'ghetto Dr. Phil' since much of his content focuses on relationships, particularly those that somehow grow bad with time. While he s known for touring across the country very rigorously, he also taken the time out to appear on the Jerry Springer Show alongside fellow comedian DeRay Davis. Winning millions of fans across all races, he has been among the top comedians on TV over the years. Not only has he been making people laugh, he has also appeared in eleven films while recently he finished writing his second film-script for Mr. Break Up. Earlier he has had experience as a film producer and director, creating as well as producing seven pilots and shows for the well known Viacom Network. To date, he has sold more than five hundred thousand DVDs all over the globe, and now preparing for Miami's comedy fest.
