Last Comic Standing
Last Comic Standing is a popular American reality television talent show that began in 2003. The aim of the show is to choose a comedian, who will eventually receive a development contract with the NBC network. In addition to this, thereare other benefits for any individual chosen.
In the early episodes of the Last Comic Standing competition, NBC talent scouts [Ross Mark and Bob Read] placed casting calls in a variety of locations around the United States. The aim was to identify comics to participate in callback auditions before live audiences. Mark and Read chose a predetermined number of comics, and these individuals would take part in a semifinal qualifying round.
The comics who proceeded to the semifinal qualifying round were categorized into 2 groups. By Season Four, 40 comics were set into 2 groups of 20. They all competed at the Alex Theater in Los Angeles. For the semifinal rounds, elebrity judges, as well as the show's producers, chose the comics who would move on to the final qualifying round.
