The American rock band, Journey, shaped during the year 1973, in the City of San Francisco, situated in the U.S state California. Journey had been formed by former members of the band called Santana, known as Greg Rolie and Neal Schon. The initial name of the band Journey was Golden Gate Rhythm Section. In its early years, the band had to face many struggles and went through different phases, due to rotating band members and constantly changing their music style. The albums released during that time were Journey, in 1975, Look into the Future, in 1976 and Next in 1977; all these proving to be commercial flops. However, luck finally shun over the band in the later part of the 70s and earlier part of the 80s. It was during this time period that Journey had produced a sequence of slow tempo, and long voiced notes, with electric guitars in the background music, songs, better known as power ballads, along with producing some great rock songs. Their album Infinity, released in 1978, reached the #21 on the Billboard 200 chart, marking the first multi-platinum album of the band. From there onwards Journey released six more platinum selling albums, including the 1981 released album, Escape, which proved to be the Journey's number one and a winning album, being certified platinum nine times. Some of the hits of that era include Any Way You Want It, Separate Ways, Open Arms, and their signature song Don't Stop Believing, which is also the top selling record track in the history of iTunes. Over the years, Journey's albums have twice accomplished the gold status; trice the platinum status; eight times the multi-platinum plateau; and once a Diamond status as well. The band has sold about forty-seven million albums in United States alone, and has earning themselves the status of being the 28th best selling band of the nation. The current band members include Arnel Pineda, Deen Castronovo, Jonathan Cain, Neal Schon and Ross Valory.
Heart:Heart is a duo, composed of sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson, coming from Seattle, Washington, USA, and a first girl-rock-band, which formed in 1973. There have been many lineup changes in the group since its beginning, but the two sisters have been the only permanent members so far. Focusing on hard rock and folk music, Heart gained much appreciation and rose to fame in the mid 1970s that continued till the 1980s, and also the 1990s. The sisters expressed their talents as both musicians and also singers, and released hits like Alone, Barracuda, Crazy On You, Magic Man, and What About Love among many other super-hits. Selling more than 30 million albums worldwide, Heart have been touring extensively over the past years. However, after having a career together as a duo for approximately twenty years, the two decided to start their family lives, and work as solo artists. Then, in 2002, after experimenting in other mediums too, like films, Ann and Nancy reunited and started touring extensively for consecutive three summers. Heart also released a live concert film on both, DVD and a CD, entitled Heart Alive In Seattle, which was very well critically acclaimed. This production of theirs was followed by a studio album, Jupiters Darling, which released in 2004. Jupiters Darling, produced by Nancy Wilson, became the first new studio album of Heart in ten years, which featured fifteen original songs. Then, from 2006 and onwards, the band Heart has been hitting the road again, performing with a multitude of super-hit artists. Hope & Glory, Ann's solo album was released in 2007, and then in 2008, other appearing in several famous TV shows, Heart also made a US tour with other 80s bands like Journey and Cheap Trick.
