Since his early ages, he always found himself interested in music, and desired to pursue music as a career. At the time he was 15, Elton John started working as a pianist at the Northwood Pub. Later on Bluesology became a backing touring band, and played behind acts like The Isley Brothers, Doris Troy, and Major Lance. Initially Elton John gave the auditions to Gentle Giant and King Crimson for the position of lead singer but failed. So he later answered an advertisement by Ray Williams, while on the other side, Bernie Taupin answered the advertisement at the same time as well. As John came in he was given the lyrics written by Taupin and he was required to make music for it, which he did, and so the partnership, still intact today, was made between John and Taupin. John released his debut solo album, Empty Sky back in 1969; however in USA it was released in 1975. The album did a moderate business, but received positive reviews overall and thus followed a long array of hit studio albums by him, the total count of which goes up to 28. His most recent studio album came out in 2006 and was titled The Captain & the Kid.

Over the years, Elton John has won numerous awards and honorariums, not just for his albums and singles, but also for the musical scores that he gave for the theatrical acts like Billy Elliot, and the Lion King.

Joel also came in to the music industry the same year Elton John did, after he saw the Beatles perform at the Ed Sullivan Show, the same year. Born in Bronx, New York, Joel decided to pursue music as his full time career. After he made up his mind, he started his search for a local island band to join, and his search ended when he became a member of a band named Echoes. Echoes originally covered the songs of British Rock and Roll bands, and enjoyed decent exposure in New York. Joel Started doing music with the Echoes as he dropped out of his high school. He recorded his music for the first time in a studio when he was just 16 years of age along with the Echoes. And so with this very first recording session Billy Joel's career as a musician kicked off, and he later became a solo act and released his debut solo album entitled Cold Spring Harbor in 1971, after signing a record deal with Family Productions.

Joel released his first breakthrough album, The Stranger which was his fifth studio album, in 1977 that remained at #2 spot on U.S music charts for 6 weeks. In fact, the album did so well that it became Joel's best selling studio album of all times. The album that followed, the 52nd Street, was no less than a success as well, and became Joel's very first album ever, to top the U.S Billboard music chart. After 52nd Street, Joel released 7 more studio albums, all of which did substantial amount of business worldwide, providing him with international exposure and several awards and tributes as well.
