Initially, the band consisted of three musicians, and in a non-serious manner, called themselves, Chickenfoot, since chicken foot has three talons. However, it was not their intention to be called by this name and were in the process of naming themselves with something more substantial when the secret was revealed that former Van Halen and Red Hot Chili Peppers band members were recording music together under the name “Chickenfoot”. The rockers felt no reason to look for another name once they became known by their present name.
 
Chickenfoot was started in Mexico, where Hagar owns a club, Cabo Wabo. Smith, Anthony, and Hagar, would hold jam sessions there. It is interesting to note however that till then, the trio had not decided to form a band. It was on the prodding of their fans that they decided to officially form a band when Satriani decided to join their band. Their debut performance was in the Pearl Concert Theatre, a venue inside Las Vegas’s best casino hotel, The Palms Casino Resort, in 2008. Encouraged by the initial response, the band released its self-titled debut album the year after.
 
Chickenfoot was loved equally by the fans and the critics. Both a commercially hot album and a critically acclaimed one, it became certified gold record both in the United States and Canada. Furthermore, it topped both the U.S. Billboard Top Hard Rock Albums chart and the U.S. Billboard Top Independent Albums chart. It had super-hot songs like “Future in the Past”, “My Kinda Girl”, “Get It Up”, “Oh Yeah”, and “Soap on a Rope”, to name just a few. As a promotional event, the band performed on the very famous The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien and right after undertook an extensive American and European tour, making Chickenfoot tickets sell like hot cakes. Moreover, it did not take the talented bunch too long to release their second album, Chickenfoot III.
 
Their latest album to date, Chickenfoot III, was released in 2011. The fact that it was nominated for the prestigious Grammy in the “Best Recording Package” category, testifies to the album’s sound music composition and quality. With hit numbers like “Something Going Wrong”, “Big Foot”, “Come Closer”, “Up Next”, “Alright Alright”, and “Last Temptation”, it has become the best from Chickenfoot yet.
