Calvin Harris is a singer, songwriter, DJ and record producer from Dumfries, Scotland. Although his real name is Adam Richard Wiles, he has been working and performing under his stage name since before his career kick started. Harris was the subject of many controversies in April of 2011 when he was scheduled to perform on Katy Perry’s tour but withdrew. He claimed he had creative differences and problems with the tour management and production team. He did make a public apology to her fans, even when Perry took on Twitter and criticized him for his withdrawal. Harris has insisted that all is well between the two and that he would still consider working with her.
Earlier this year, it was announced that Harris would be the producer on several new tracks for singer Kesha’s forthcoming record. The album would be entitled “Spandex on the Distant Horizon”. Also this year, he worked with the “Scissor Sisters” on their new song “Only the Horses”. Apart from this, he was the writer and producer on Cheryl Cole’s lead single, “Call My Name” off her record “A Million Lights”. Harris has furthermore been scheduled to collaborate with rapper and singer, Example. Collaborations and production work apart, the singer and DJ will continue on playing shows on his own tour.
