Featuring some of the most accomplished musicians to be found in Germany, the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra is among the best classical music ensembles in the world. Known for its meaningful symphonies, the musicians of the ensemble are proficient in swaying their audiences with their tunes and melodies. In 2006, a group of ten European media outlets voted the Berlin Philharmonic as the third best orchestra in Europe. Gramophone, a British magazine, labeled the orchestra as the second best in the world in 2008. Although the orchestra's beginnings were marred by crisis and financial upheavals, today it supports several chamber music ensembles. Now this internationally renowned and acclaimed German orchestra is coming to your city for a live performance. Get your Berliner Philharmonic Orchestra tickets at the earliest and prepare to be thrilled by some wonderful classical music.
The beginning of this wonderful orchestra was marked by a rebellion. In 1882, fifty-four musicians broke away from their conductor Benjamin Bilse when he announced his intent to take his band to Warsaw for a concert. Those musicians then formed an ensemble of their own and named it as Frühere Bilsesche Kapelle, which literally meant, 'Former Bilse's Band'. By the time this ensemble was created, Berlin was not renowned as a center for music, and lacked facilities and halls to stage concerts. On the other hand several other cities in Germany like Leipzig and Vienna were renowned for their sophisticated music and impressive concert halls. The first performance by this ensemble, therefore, took place in a restaurant.
In 1882, the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra started playing in a former roller skating rink. The venue had a capacity for about 2,000 people and after renovations it became one of the most important concert halls in Berlin. In 1887, the orchestra was renamed to Berliner Philharmonisches Orchester, which is the German for Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra.
In the beginning, the musicians in the orchestra had high ambitions; however, they were soon faced with many challenges, especially in terms of managing finances. Initially the symphony gathered administrative support from Hermann Wolff. He organized a subscription series for the orchestra and also guided them professionally regarding financial matters.
With the passage of time, the orchestra gained recognition in fans and made a name for itself. It also gained support from the Royal Music Conservatory, administered by Joseph Joachim, a renowned violinist of the time. This helped the orchestra a great deal in their progress by ensuring their financial survival in the long run. The Berlin Philharmonic musicians committed to stay with the conservatory for at least a specified number of concerts and the conservatory would stay in co-operation with the ensemble.
However, whereas this association solved one problem it bred many more. Wolff and Joachim were men of different ideals and personalities. Instead of coming up with similar music worldviews, competition and rivalry started simmering between the two. Hermann Wolff succeeded in creating more influence on the most significant members of the philharmonic and expanded his own control over the operations of the ensemble. This competition reignited the fears regarding the survival of the orchestra. Although the association continued, the financial future of the company yet again became vulnerable.
Despite several ups and downs, and many challenges faced by the ensemble, Berlin Philharmonic never let its standards to go down, both in terms of performances and in terms of determination. A class apart in quality and possessing a depth of culture and musical knowledge, the melodies by the orchestra render it almost impossible for the audiences not to get affected by them. Renowned for filling the air with extraordinary music tunes, this ensemble is a favorite of orchestra lovers worldwide. Now you also have a chance to see the talented musicians of this German ensemble in a live performance. All you need to do is to get the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra tickets before the stocks finish.
