As an 11 year old, Ashley won over talent judges with her rendition of the song I Want toBe a Cowboy's Sweetheart. The offers kept coming after that and the young Ashley began earning steady income from her work at a theatre. Her parents were quick to identify her talent and encouraged her a lot. They introduced her to the music of the 'Eagles' and 'Lynyrd Skynyrd'. The death of her father was a huge blow to the family, both emotionally and financially. But her mother remained firm in her resolve to see her 13 year old daughter realize her potential. So the single mother and her daughter shifted to Nashville in order to give Ashley a bigger platform to pursue her dreams.
The sacrifice and dedication paid off as the young Ashley was able to land a contract as a songwriter. The job paved the way for her to enter into a record deal as a singer with Sony Records. The deal resulted in the release of her debut album titled 'Satisfied' which came out in2006. The first song of the album failed to crack the Top 40 but still managed to generate positive acclaim. The second song from the same album was sung in collaboration with Ronnie Dunn and was titled 'I Don't Want to'. The song was very well received and made its way to number 37 on the 'Hot Country Songs' chart. Now you too can listen to all these great songs; all you need to do is to buy Ashley Monroe tickets for a memorable night of entertainment.
Ashley was continuing her job as a songwriter during all this as well. In 2007 she collaborated with Katrina Elam in writing the lyrics for her song Flat on the Floor. The song proved to be a success and was later also covered by Carrie Underwood as the song appeared in her album titled 'Carnival Ride'. Ashley wrote songs for Jason Aldean and Miranda Lambert. The songs were called The Truth and Heart Like Mine respectively.
Ashley's self titled EP came out in 2009. At that time she was touring with Ten out of Tenn artists and wanted to thank her fans for their continued suport. The EP was well received as it contained all her famous songs as well new ones such as Angeline, And You, Has Anybody Ever Told You and Drink for Two. In addition to this the EP also contained her collaboration with Trent Dabbs titled Everything I Wanted.
In 2013 Ashley was able to sign a deal with Warner Bros. Nashville to release her second studio album. The album was titled 'Like a Rose' and it was critically and commercially lauded. The album which was produced by Vince Gill had such track as Like a Rose which made its debut on the Europe Top-100 Country Music Chart at number 86. The album also contained the song You Ain't Dolly (And you Ain't Porter). The song was a duet and included the voice of Blake Shelton. The song made its entry at number 73 of the chart.
Ashley continued her collaboration with other singers even as her solo career took off. In 2008 she lent her vocals to the single Old Enough when she sang with the lead vocal of The Raconteurs Ricky Skaggs. The song was given coverage in bluegrass form in addition to a music video. Her other collaborations include backing vocals for the Third Man House Band when they worked with Wanda Jackson on her album titled 'The Party Ain't Over'.
