Animosity is a deathcore band from San Francisco, California. Animosity is just five guys who stepped in to play an aggressive mixture of death metal and hardcore.They are noted for combining the growl of death metal with the scream of hardcore and thrash metal.

The time around band formation, all the members of the band were in high school and some were only 15 at the time. We must attest to something in San Francisco?s water line.

Known in the metal community for their revolutionary thrash metal music, Animosity contributed distinctly to change the face of metal so to speak.

Three years after its inception, Animosity released its debut album, Shut It Down on Tribunal Records in 2003. The members of the band ranged from ages 16-17.

In 2005, they would move to Black Market Activities who issued their second disc Empires on Metal Blade imprint. Animosity is one of the most brutal bands of this label.

The potential growth that had occurred between the two albums was noticed by the high profile Metal Blade, who signed them in 2006. Animosity toured the United States with Origin and Malevolent Creation.

Before they recorded their debut album for Metal Blade label, lead vocalist Leo Miller lost his girlfriend to a drunk driver. Miller?s death helped him to shape the very intense and very emotional lyrics for the band?s third album, Animal. The album was produced by Kurt Ballou of Converge and released on October 2nd, 2007.

Animosity is often considered as one of the few bands that come close to the ?Destroy the Opposition? album of Dying Fetus in terms of catchiness, brutality and technical skills.

While Animosity originates from the hardcore scene, listeners can notice the hardcore breaks and gang-shouted choruses in closing track ?Shut It Down?.

The tracks contained on their debut release, Shut It Down, are textbook examples of Bay Area thrash.The music features a blend with some current death metal influence and modern hardcore dance parts.

Leo Miller met two guys who were around his age that were into metal. Before starting their high school, the trio started jamming together. After graduated high school, they started hitting other states and did their first full US tour.

Tribunal records put out their first record, ?Shut it Down?, giving Animosity a good head start. From there, the group manages to hook up with Black Market Activities. This label put out their last two records, Empires and Animal.

Animosity has a great influence of Death Metal Bands in their eclectic mix music. While commenting on their third album, Animal, Leo Miller says; ?We?ve matured a lot and we?ve moved away from genetic sounding trends and song structures.

As a whole we?ve just become much more extreme, technical, and proficient in our playing?. Animal is an evident of the fact that the band truly possesses something for the metal fan in everyone.It stands out from the crowd for a few reasons, their plain talent being the most notable!
