Andre Hellers sensual discovery of Africa stuns the audience with its tempo, energy and the zest of life that is oozing out of the troupe. The Circus Theater traveled through Africa for two years between Mali and Morocco, and Egypt and South Africa, to all the coasts and the heart of the continent. The troupe searched the African diaspora for over 100 artists, eccentrics, dancers, singers and musicians.
Offering sensous pleasure to children and adults, workers and intellectuals, the troupe featured truly something for every age, profession, gender etc. They display unbelievable acrobatics, intoxicating rhythms and costumes of exceptional beauty together keep you enchanted for more than two hours.
'Hakuna Matata' is one of the pole attractions from the Troupe. Elegantly swinging back and forth on poles, nearly touching top of the tents while the other dances build a dazzling high human pyramid, the group will have you holding your breath. You will then be shown body eccentrics bending and curving proud into snake like formations.
In this spectacle, feet become hands and hands become feet - an art known only to the African tradition of cult-like mastery of bodily movements. Watch waterman making bowls dance on top of a meter-high fountain which is spewing from his mouth.
An Egyptian circus star displays a combination of courage and his physical control that is quite elegant and appealing to the visitors.
He swirls his swords through the air at top speeds, suspending them over the backs, shoulders and arms of the dancers. Abdurazak Reshid Adem attracts people to watch him juggling ten balls at once.
He takes his tarp and throws the balls in the air so fast that everyone watching him would think they were remaining airborne the entire time. Audience will also get whisked away by seeing the two female artists laying on their backs and moving around in circles at a rash tempo. They juggle heavy furniture with their feet as if it were an air-filled ball.
Afrika! Afrika! is not only a show but a complete experience. Guests and visitors arrive early to enjoy African food and drink, have the chance to see and buy handmade African crafts and a lot. Prior to the beginning of the show, an art exhibition is organized displaying indigenous arts and crafts.
