Guiseppe Verdi is hailed as a veritable legend among music composers in the opera genre. The opera La Traviata premiered in 1853 in Venice and was not initially received well, with members of the audience expressing their displeasure about the casting choices by jeering throughout the performance. However, two years later, the opera was revised and thus became a resounding success. It was soon rendered in Italian and English, making its London premiere with a performance in Her Majesty’s Theater.
