Details of Broue and the Ticket Luck value
Broue has been playing to rave reviews for over thirty years since it first hit the theaters in Quebec. The play revolves around three characters sitting in a pub which serves as a getaway car emancipating them from their better halves. It is a light-hearted theatrical experience containing humor while throwing light on the street life. Broue, also known as Brew in English holds a Guinness World record for being the longest running play performed by the same cast. This small-scale production was first witnessed in Quebec in 1979 eventually blossoming into something as big as it is today. Broue made history as it has been witnessed by over three million people and performed more than three thousand times. Imbued with sharp wit and humor, the play guarantees to keep the audiences entertained from beginning to the end. In 1978 Mark Messier, Michel Cote and Marcel Gauthier came up with a skit and asked their colleagues Claude Meunier, Francine Ruel, Louis Saia, and Jean-Pierre Plante to brush up the script while adding humor to it. The next year saw the completion of the script which was a mere effort to see the play run in theaters just for a month. What seemed a trivial production grew into a global success right after its first screening. Although the play centers on the three main characters there are others that come and go while bringing more comic elements and adding color to the story. Other than the dialogues it is the fast pace of the play that keeps the audiences engrossed. The cast has remained the same but over the years there have been alterations in the script to keep up with the changing times. So every time Broue hits the theaters it has something new and refreshing to offer.
The premiere was held in a small theater called Theatre des Voyagements accommodating around hundred people. As a result of the positive response the play was then seen all across Montreal including Theatre Port-Royal. It was also performed at one of the authentic taverns in Montreal known as Magnan's. The original play is in French but the English version received an equally overwhelming response at the Centennial Theatre, Lennoxville. Later performing at Centaur Theatre and touching Vancouver and Toronto in 1982 and 1983 respectively.
The year 1984 gave the cast and play a much deserved recognition in Allentown (Philadelphia). The Belgian version also emerged in 1990 titled Chez Willy which enjoyed its performances for almost seven years. Enjoying its reputation as one of the most successful stage plays, Broue is back to the theaters for another dose of pure entertainment.
