The National is a band belonging to Cincinnati, Ohio and was formed in1999. The band plays indie rock and post punk music and at present operates from Brooklyn, New York. The band came into existence when band members Scott Devendorf and Matt Berninger met while studying at University of Cincinnati. That’s where they met two more music lovers, Casey and Jeff. They released a single album together before the latter two moved to Brooklyn and the band broke up. The band was remade in 1999 with the collaboration of Aaron, Bryce and Bryan. The National started off with night performances at Luna Lounge at NYC Lower East Side. Their self-titled debut album was released with "Brassland Rerods" in 2001. Their second album was "Sad Songs for Dirty Lovers" and it hit the shelves in 2003. It was released in collaboration with Peter Katis and Paul Heck, record producers. Their third studio album "Alligator" was released in 2006. The album was an instant hit and received positive output. It was named the "Album of the Year" by Los Angeles Times.
