Interestingly, the Gym Class Heroes actually started from the gym class when Travie McCoy and Matt McGinley met and became friends in their ninth grade gym class. 1997 saw the official birth of their band when the duo came together with bassist Ryan Geise. The band started performing at small functions, gained in popularity and went on to greener fields and earned a stronger fanbase. The first official album The Papercut Chronicles was released in the February of 2005 and was an instant hit among the hip-hop fans.
As Cruel as School Children was released in July 2006 with some changes in the band's music. Synthesizers and drum machines were utilized for the first time by the Gym Class Heroes who previously always used live instrumentation. However, this was an intelligent decision and it paid off really well. With chart reaching songs like Cupid's Chokehold and Clothes Off and other wonderful songs like Shoot down the Stars and The Queen and I, the album was a major success up the sleeves of the band as it reached the gold-selling mark. The band also gained global recognition when Travie McCoy was featured in the soundtrack of the movie Snakes on the Plane. The band kept on gaining in popularity and successfully toured the country before sitting down to record The Quilt.
In 2008, The Quilt was released with collaborations with many well-known artists and was another powerhouse of magnetic music. After some successful touring, the band stayed apart for about two years and McCoy pursued a solo career. However, they are back together and that too with a bang. They are touring and this is the greatest news possible for their hard core fans. Moreover, they are not alone. It is a hundred percent double treat time when the Gym Class Heroes & the Dirty Heads perform together.
Although the Dirty Heads is a relatively new band but they are pure fire and ready to burn your souls with their rocking music and unique style. Hailing from South California, the band is inspired by Sublime and is entertainment personified. The band was formed when rapper Jared Watson (Dirty J) and Dustin Bushnell (Duddy B) got together in the sunny Orange County of California. The band became complete when bassist David Foral, Drummer Matt Ochoa and percussionist Jon Olazabal joined the lineup. Together, they created a great album in the form of Any Port in a Storm released in 2008 with amazing songs like Lay me Down, which reached the number one position on Billboard Alternative Song Chart for 2010.
