Since its formation, King Diamond has seen many lineup changes with the exception of two mainstays, Andy LaRocque and King Diamond. The band recorded their debut album, "Fatal Portrait" at the Sound Track Studio and released their first single No Presents for Christmas through the Roadrunner Records. Produced by King Diamond himself with the help of Rune Hoyer, the album made it to number 33 on the Swedish Album charts. This album also spawned the band's hit single Halloween.
In 1986 King Diamond released their sophomore album, "Abigail". Recorded once again at the Sound Track Studio in Denmark, this album opened to a lot of critical acclaim. Before the album hit the shelves, the band released the track The Family Ghost, which also earned a lot of popularity. Based on an original story, "Abigail" was a concept album which added largely to its popularity. The album charted at 39th position in Sweden and also made it to the Billboard 200 charts. The band also embarked on a tour for the promotion of this album and rocked the crowd wherever they went.
King Diamond then produced their third album, "Them" in 1988. Recorded at the M.M.C Studio in Denmark, this was yet another concept album by the band and their music once again didn't fail to mesmerize listeners. The album became the band's highest charting album to date. In 1989, the band released another hit album, "Conspiracy" that reached 41st position on the Swedish Album chart and at number 111 on the Billboard 200. The band has so far released six studio albums, all of which garnered critical acclaim. Some of the hit albums include, "The Graveyard", "Voodoo", "House" and "The Eye".
In 2001, King Diamond released their tenth album, "Abigail II: The Revenge". A sequel of their sophomore album, it was the band's first album since 1990 to feature the talented bassist Hal Patino. Although the band could not tour in support of this album, it peaked on number 24 in Finland and also scored 42nd position on the Sweden charts.
In 2003 King Diamond released their eleventh studio album, "The Puppet Master", which quickly found its way up the Sweden charts. Featuring stars like Livia Zita, the album had rock lovers raving about it. In 2007, the band released the album, "Give Me Your Soul...Please" which also peaked at number 174 on the Billboard 200 charts. The single, Never Ending Hill earned a Grammy nomination in the category "Best Metal Performance".
