Denver Outlaws
The Denver Outlaws - a lacrosse team based in Denver, Colorado - began playing in the MLL as a 2006 expansion team. The Outlaws played their first game on May 20, 2006 versus the Chicago Machine at INVESCO Field at Mile High in front of the record crowd of 13,167. The Outlaws won the Western Conference championship in their first season.
On July 4, 2007, Denver Outlaws set the world professional lacrosse attendance record when 19,793 people came to see the 4th of July fireworks game against Chicago.
The Outlaws won the game 22-14, breaking the previous record which was set against the Los Angeles Riptide. On July 4, 2008, Denver broke their own attendance record once again when 20,116 people saw the Outlaws defeating the San Francisco Dragons 10-9.
Denver played host to the 2008 Major League Lacrosse All-Star Game in front of 10,124 people. The Denver Outlaws would kick off their inaugural season on May 20, 2006 driving 13,167 lacrosse fans into INVESCO Field at Mile High.
As a first year expansion team, Denver captured the Western Conference Championship with an overall record of 11-2. The team sent five players to the MLL All-Star game and delivered hard-hitting action to nearly 70,000 Outlaws fans over the course of the home season.
The Outlaws made the playoffs for the second year. It again set a professional lacrosse attendance record by hosting 19,793 at INVESCO Field on July 4, 2007.
In their first two years of existence, the Outlaws have been one of the most successful franchises in the MLL both on and off the field.
In 2007, they qualified for their second consecutive post season appearance. As for the Outlaws roster, it has been filled with some of the biggest stars in the game.
All Star players like Brian Langtry, Josh Sims, Brendan Mundorf, Benson Erwin, Trevor Tierney, Geoff Snider and Lee Zink, have been a part of the Outlaws club since the beginning.
The Denver Outlaws played all of their home games at INVESCO Field at Mile High. The Denver Outlaws also accepted internship applications for the 2008 MLL season. They chose those applicants who were receiving school credit for this internship.
For those who are eligible to receive school credit, there are 2 different types of internship programs available during summer. The Seasonal internship involves full or part-time office work in the front office of the Outlaws, along with full gameday responsibilities.
A normal schedule is 3-5 full days in the office, along with working a full day at INVESCO Field during lacrosse events. As for the internship requirements, seasonal interns must be able to commit to the entire lacrosse events schedule.
Candidates seeking internship must possess following qualification standards. A candidate must be a highly motivated, enthusiastic team player with strong communication skills. He/she must be a self-starter, comfortable making phone calls and meeting people and a willingness to show self-initiative.
The person must have demonstrated knowledge of practices and principles of marketing, heavy customer-service oriented skills and ability to establish working relationships with customers and clients.
