As a member of the renowned pop and rock band, Rucker was one of the most popular artists in the music industry during the nineties. In 1995, when Hootie and The Blowfish released its debut album, "Cracked Rear View," it became an instant hit. The album sold more than sixteen million copies and joined the ranks of the most successful albums of all times.
Rucker had grown up listening to the likes of Al Green, Gladys Knight and Otis Redding. The influence of these R&B icons is reflected in the band's music from the time that Rucker was fronting it. Later, when Darius Rucker embarked on his solo career in 2001, this influence became even more pronounced on his music.
Darius recorded his solo debut album, "The Return of Mongo Slade" but it was released a year later under the name, "Back to Then". Although this debut album was an R&B record, the debut single that Rucker released in 2008, Don't Think I Don't Think about It was a full throttle country music track and made it to the Billboard Hot Country Songs chart.
His sophomore album, "Learn to Live" came out in the same year and went on to be certified gold. With a background in rock music, this African-American artist's entry and success in country music came as a surprise for many, but his knack for country tunes made him one of the best in the genre. With five smashing hit albums to his name, Rucker has a delightful repertoire to choose from in his upcoming concert. Get to the performance and watch him live on stage.
Sharing the stage with this Rock and Country superstar will be another equally talented artist, Cassadee Pope. The singer, songwriter and musician is most renowned for being the first female winner of 'The Voice'. Pope has also been the lead vocalist of the pop and rock band Hey Monday. With the band she released three EPs and a studio album, "Hold on Tight". In 2011, Pope began her solo career, and the following year she went on her first ever acoustic solo tour. The same year Pope also released her debut solo EP.
During this time she auditioned for the third season of the renowned TV singing competition on NBC, 'The Voice' and won the title in December 2012. Cassadee Pope's debut solo album, titled "Frame by Frame" came out in 2013 and debuted on number thirteen on the Billboard 200 and topped the Top Country Album chart. Her single Wasting All These Tears also made it to the Top 10 Country singles.
Cassadee Pope's music also shows reflections of some notable names in the music world. Shania Twain, Avril Lavigne, Blink 182 and Michelle Branch are some of the contemporary stars whose music has influenced Pope. In her own words she also takes inspirations from Blake Shelton, Taylor Swift and Hunter Hayes.
