Bad Company the super rock band was formed in England by Paul Rodgers and Simon Kirke, joined by Boz Burrell, Mick Ralphs in 1973. They signed to Atlantic Records and Swan Song Records labels in the US, and to Island Records in England. The decade of the seventies boomed with their music and their success gradually stretched to the twenty first century, commemorating forty year's tour with Lynyrd Skynyrd in March 2013 and appearing on Tonight Show with Jay Leno in June 2013.
During the Paul Rodger's era the band produced their first debut album Bad Company, an international hit with number one on the Billboard's pop album chart, and certified platinum in the US in 1974. Two of its singles, Movin' On and Can't Get Enough reached top 20. Straight Shooter their second album also went platinum and reached number three on Billboard's pop album chart. Bad Company won yet another certified platinum with the album Run With the Packs, reaching number five on the Billboard charts. Its single song Young Blood reached top 20 on the pop charts in 1976.
In 1979 the Bad Company's album Desolation Angel brought about an improvement in the band's synthesizers and strings which considerably elevated it from its previous performances and gained a top five platinum selling album status, and a number three on the Billboard charts; two of its single songs Gone Gone Gone and Rock 'n' Roll Fantasy became prominent.
During the 1980's the Bad Company became exhausted by performing in big stadiums, and the management suffered due to Peter Grant leaving the band. He was the one to have the band members together. After a gap of three years, in 1982 the band was able to produce a new studio album Rough Diamonds which reached number two on the newly constituted Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, but was not a successful album as the others. Although they were able to put up heavy shows in large stadiums, yet they were not able to record new albums until they produced Live in Albuquerque in 1976, in the year 2006.
In 1984, two of the main band member Mick Ralph and Simon Kirke got together to re-establish Bad Company with new vocalist Brian Howe and bassist Steve Price and keyboardist Greg Dechert. Their new album Fame and Fortune with Keith Olsen, who managed the lineup, was not a commercial success, but its single The Love reached number 85.This was the Brian Howe's era. Another album named Dangerous Age came out in 1988 after a few changes with the band members. It was a better achievement than its previous album with one of its single No Smoke without a Fire at number four and the album reaching gold. The bands next album Holy Waters was solely written by Brian Howes which attained top 40 and gold status and was widely sold .In 1992 Brian Howe's era's final album Here Comes Trouble also went gold, and reached Top 40.
After the Departure of Brian Howe, the remaining four hired Robert Hart as their lead singer. Their new line up brought out Company of Strangers in June 1995, on the EastWest Records and became number 159 on the album charts with Stories Told & Untold released in 1996. This was Robert Hart's era.
After the death of the band's former manager Peter Grant in Dec 1995, four of the bands main members got together with Paul Rodgers and produced a compilation album called The Original Bad Company Anthology in 1999. In 2002 the band went on to record a new live album and DVD The Merchants of Cool. Its song Joe Fabulous hit Top 20 on Mainstream Rock Radio. This was the second Paul Rodgers era.
