Charlie Daniels Band is fronted by Charlie Daniels who has been a southern country rock icon for quite some decades now. Daniels is quite popular for a number of singles including his biggest hit The Devil Went Down to Georgia. Daniels has been actively performing and recording music since 1950s. For his remarkable contribution to the music industry, Daniels has also been honored with an induction in both Musicians Hall of Fame and Grand Ole Opry.
Over the course of his career, Daniels has also collaborated with numerous other notable musicians. Back in 1964, Daniels co-wrote It Hurts Me, which was performed by the late great Elvis Presley with Joy Byers. He also lent his talents as a session musician to many including three of Bob Dylan's albums through 1960 to 1970. As a solo musician, Daniels made his debut with a self-titled album which hit stores in 1971. Uneasy Rider became Daniels' first ever hit which was on his second album titled Honey in the Rock. During that period, Daniels also fiddled for the Marshall Tucker Band with whom he'll be sharing the stage in Albany.
In 1979 Charlie Daniels took home a Grammy Award in the category of 'Best Country Vocal Performance' for his song The Devil Went Down to Georgia. Over the years, Daniels has released a total of thirty studio albums and has performed at countless venues. Even after all these years, Daniels has a lot to offer to his fans and to the music industry at large.
The fans of country rock have a lot to look forward to at the upcoming event as Bret Michaels will also be performing his share of country hits live. Famous for his songs like Every Rose Has Its Thorn, Michaels is also a veteran when it comes to performing live. He initially gained mainstream popularity as the vocalist of the band Poison and later ventured as a solo musician where he gave several hit albums including his 2003 release Songs of Life. Apart from being a musician, Michaels has also appeared in movies as well as on several TV Shows. He also served as a judge on a talent show called Nashville Star. His studio albums which followed shortly after include Freedom of Sound and his very successful solo album Rock My World. So far, Custom Built has been his highest charting solo album which peaked at number one spot on the Billboard Hard Rock list.
Marshall Tucker Band on the other hand has been performing live for more than forty years with changing lineups as well. The group was formed back in 1972 and made its debut with a self-titled LP. Even decades after its formation, the group still continues to record and perform live. On an average, Marshall Tucker Band performs 150 to 200 shows per year. Its upcoming performance in Albany is going to be one of those. So join all these wonderful musicians to contribute to a good cause and listen to some amazing music at Times Union Center on May 31, 2014.
