Black Star Rider's first studio album included twelve songs, recorded by Johnson and penned by Warwick. Focus being on bringing something fresh to the fans, the band members sought to enchant the listeners with a vibe different from the typical one of Thin Lizzy. Some of the hit tracks from the album include, Kingdom of the Lost, Before the War, Bloodshot, Hey Judas and All Hell Breaks Loose. The first single from the album, Bound for Glory was first played at BBC Radio 2 on Ken Bruce's mid-morning show. Containing many timeless classic rock ballads to enchant the listeners, the album was appreciated by the Allmusic critic Thom Jurek as a "classic hard rock attack". Scott Gorham even bagged the Riff Lord Award at the Metal Hammer Golden Gods ceremony in 2013 for this album. Not only this, the album got a spot on the "UK Rock Chart", "US Hard Rock Chart", "US Heatseekers Chart" and the "Irish Indie Albums Chart".
The album was followed by a series of tours that earned the band a bigger fan base. They made appearances in several festivals during their worldwide tour. Black Star Riders first rocked the stage at their concert in Milton Keyes and later on even made an appearance at the Hi Rock Festival in Germany. From Sweden Rock Festival to Hard Rock Hell, the band members enthralled audiences with their live shows and earned countless fans wherever they went.
