Aaron Neville's heritage lies in the heart of the South itself, New Orleans, Louisiana. Born in the throes of the Second World War in 1941, Aaron was instilled with traditional values of mutual respect, love and care by his mother Amelia Landry Neville. It was her constant emphasis of showing kindness and compassion towards others that impressed itself deep within a young Aaron's psyche and was later borne out in the form of soulful and heartfelt musical outpouring. Since his childhood, Aaron has been an integral part of the Neville Brothers legacy, along with Art and Cyril and it's heartening to know that this tradition has been passed onto Aaron's sons Jason and Ivan off late, the latter having performed alongside The Rolling Stones in several gigs.
From the onset of his musical career, Aaron Neville has developed a knack to "Tell It Like It Is," releasing the eponymous album as his debut offering in 1965 under Par-Lo records. The record's title track climbed all the way to the 2nd spot on Billboard's Hot 100 as well as topped the US R&B chart. "Tell It Like It Is" was eventually certified platinum and even had a top-ten cover version come out in 1981 that was sung by Nancy and Ann Wilson. Aaron had already debuted with his single "Over You" six years earlier that had achieved moderate success, peaking at number 21 on the US R&B chart.
Putting his recording career on the backburner for more than two decades, Aaron Neville came out with his sophomore album Orchid in the Storm in 1986 and was released under Rhino Records. However, it was with his third studio album Warm Your Heart that Aaron Neville started to rekindle some still burning embers amongst his early fans and ignited a whole new following. The album, released in 1991, peaked at the 44th spot in Billboard 200 and even broke into the top-twenty five slot in the Canadian albums chart, eventually being certified platinum. It spanned the hit numbers "Everybody Plays the Fool" that attained a top-ten position on Billboard's hot 100 and topped the US Adult Contemporary chart and, as well as "Somewhere Somebody" that rose to the 6th spot on the latter chart. His ensuing studio albums The Grand Tour and Aaron Neville's Soulful Christmas released in 1993 were both certified platinum as were records such as 2000's Devotion, 2003's Believe and 2005's Christmas Prayer.
Aaron Neville's collaboration with Linda Ronstadt in 1989 resulted in a number of Grammy winning ditties. The songs "Don't Know Much" as well as "All My Life" both clinched back-to-back "Best Pop Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals" Grammys for the duo in 1990 and 1991, as well as peaked at the 2nd and 11th spots on Billboard's Hot 100 respectively. Warm Your Heart notched a pair of Grammy nods for "Best Engineered Album" and "Best Pop Male Vocal Album" the same year as well. 1993 again saw Aaron Neville become a double-Grammy hopeful with a "Best Country & Western Vocal Performance" for "The Grand Tour" and "Best Pop Male Vocal Performance" for "Don't Take Away My Heaven." After roping in his third Grammy win in 1994 with "I Fall To Pieces," a duet with Trisha Yearwood, Aaron Neville brushed past a pair of Grammy nominations in 1998 and 2000 and a trio in 2003 for his albums Nature Boy and Believe.
