Embassy Theatre in the Yesteryears
Embassy Theatre was built in the year 1928 as the Emboyd Theatre. It was originally constructed as a movie theatre and was also the home to Vaudeville Productions, which was the most famous production company of that time.

The chief architect who gave the architectural design of the Embassy Theatre was John Eberson. The Emboyd Theatre in collaboration with the Vaudeville Productions produced some magnificent performances of the century.

Both the Emboyd Theatre and the Vaudeville enjoyed the acme of success with each other. The success scene ended in 1952 when the adjacent Indiana Hotel and the Emboyd Theatre was sold to the Alliance Amusement Company.

The Alliance Amusement Company changed Emboyd Theatre"s name to Embassy Theatre and converted it into a movie cinema.

In 1972, some volunteers gathered under the leadership of Robert Goldstein and establish the Embassy Theatre Foundation to preserve the Embassy Theatre Building and its possessions.

This foundation stated "Save the Embassy" campaign and was successful in raising much amount that would stop it from demolition. The theatre was saved and the leaders of the campaign continued raising political and philanthropic awareness for the theatre.

Embassy Theatre and the Great Page
The most prominent feature of the Embassy Theatre is the 1100-pipes great Page theatre organ. The organ was lovingly nicknamed as "Miss Page". The great Page was not used during its conversion into a movie theatre.

Buddy Nolan was one of the people who tried to cope with this depressing situation as the guardian of the organ. During the 1950" to 1960"s, Nolan continued the restoration of the organ by playing it on mid-night shows which gathered a lot of funds and crowd to the Embassy Theatre. With the undying efforts of the Embassy Theatre volunteers, the Great Pipe was restored between 1976 and 1996.
