Moiseyev was followed by Maya Plitsetskaya who happened to be the company’s prima ballerina. He after successfully completing his tenure gave charge to Yuri Grigorovich. His outstanding work promoted him to the position of chief choreographer and then artistic director. Khachaturian's Spartacus is one of his famous productions. The artist continued to serve at this position till 1995. Aleksei Fadeyechev proceeded with the directorship in year 1998 which was shortly taken up by Boris Akimov.
 
The company today enjoys the status of being internationally acclaimed with extremely talented members. It has toured with world famous classics Swan Lake and Giselle, amassing appreciation from critics, other dance companies and millions of fans.  Its shows have also been themed on serious topics such as the uprising of the ancient Rome of the slaves and gladiators.

Since the comeback, the series of performances continue to add to the list of credentials of the company.
