Details of The Backyardigans and the Ticket Luck value
Featured on Nick Jr., the Backyardigans is a CGI-animated show and a winner of 2005 Parents' Choice Award. With five animal friends using their imaginations and playing out stories in their backyards, the Backyardigans is a wonderful show for preschoolers. There is also a lot of singing and dancing. It features different music styles on every cartoon, everything from opera to polka music, swing, reggae, and even country. Each day is filled with different songs and different adventures. This show has everything to spark the minds of young children and at the same time teaching them something positive.
It is more than a T.V show. It is a musical stage production for little eyes and ears. Each 20 minute story is about an imaginary adventure the kids have in their backyards, everything from 'Riding the Range' (a hip-hop cowboy hoot) to digging for buried treasure. The stories are simple -- in one, for example, the animal friends, in the guise of Mounties and Ski Patrol members, explored the snowy wastes looking for people to protect; in another, as a group of secret agents, they snuck into a museum to restore the "mystery bone" to its rightful owner. As the characters begin their play, the scene changes from the bucolic suburbs to whatever environment they're imagining.
They see stories about volcanoes, Vikings, swamp creatures, Yetis, aliens... Also, in several of the episodes, the concepts of teamwork and getting along with others is emphasized like the importance of cooperating with others, and saying, "please," and "thank you." Each character has very distinct personality, so most children viewing the show can identify with at least one of the characters. Young children will especially enjoy the predictability and repetition of these adventures.
The dance routines are also quite compelling. All the dance steps are choreographed and performed by real dancers, which is then recreated in 3D animation. The characters come alive and explode off the screen. The scenes are vibrant, and flamboyant like stage backdrops.
The Backyardigans consist of Tyrone (a laid-backed, cool-headed sociable moose), Austin (a shy kangaroo), Pablo (a spunky and sometimes worried penguin), Tasha (a hippo who's sweet, yet domineering at times), and Uniqua (a unique pink creature who is quite curious and self-confident). Their adventures range from pretending to be pirates to being secret agents, from surfers to being astronauts, and more.
Nick Records/Sony BMG Music Entertainment has also released the first-ever collection of songs from The Backyardigans. The CD features many of the favorite songs from the series. Featuring almost two-dozen brand new tracks, the third new compact disc, The Backyardigans: Born to Play has also been released nationwide. This is a companion to the previously stated television special "Tale of the Mighty Knights" as well as to the soon to be mentioned theatrical tour. It has celebrity guest voices to the tune of Alicia Keys, Cyndi Lauper and Adam Pascal.
Nickelodeons live stage shows have been among the top grossing touring family shows at New York's Radio City Music Hall. Now Nickelodeon has released The Backyardigans Live tour schedule for the new live show, The Tale of the Mighty Knights. Starting on March 28, 2008 in York Pennsylvania, this hit Nickelodeon kids' show is being performed in 35 cities. The live show is based on the prime time special that aired on January 14, 2008. The live show characters include Uniqua and Tyrone as knights, King Pablo, Grabbing Goblin Austin, and Fairy Tasha.
These royal knights Uniqua and Tyrone are ready to do mighty deeds in service to their King (Pablo). It seems like a pretty simple task until the King asks them to baby sit an egg, which grows legs and runs away! During this live show, Pablo, Uniqua, Tasha, Tyrone and Austin will need the audience's help as they face a mighty dragon (Adam Pascal) and return the egg to the king. The stage show will have the entire family singing, dancing and laughing along to songs from the rock opera.
Since its debut on Nick Jr. in October 2004, The Backyardigans consistently ranks among the top five preschool TV shows. Older siblings, parents, aunts, uncles, and grandparents (as well as great-grandparents) all enjoy the show! From the adorable characters to the infectious music, the Backyardigans has a little something anyone can enjoy, especially if they have an imagination. This is a quality family entertainment, especially for the younger set.
