Founded back in 2006, the Sundogs are a minor-league double-A ice hockey team located in the Prescott Valley of the state of Arizona. Celebrating its seven season anniversary this year, the Sundogs compete in the Central Hockey League and have been playing their home games at the Tim's Toyota Center. This arena is a multi-use complex inaugurated back in 2006. Providing space for over five thousand spectators the complex was originally named the Prescott Valley Convention and Events Center. Supporting the colors gold, silver, red and black, the Arizona Sundogs are currently coached by David Lohrei with Chris Presson as its general manager. The current roster for the Sundogs consists of six defensemen namely Gord Burnett, Zack Firlotte, Steve Kaunisto, Mario Larocque, Corey Toy and Keith Wynn, four goaltenders that include David Brown, Bryan Gillis, Bryan Hogan and Adam Russo, three centre players, Jason Morgan, Jeff Kyrzakos and Chad Nehring, three wingers, Jake Hauswirth, Cody Purves and Adam Smyth and Mickael Bedard the forward position player.
 
The Arizona Sundogs inaugural season was successful as they were able to establish a record score of seventy points coming in second place in the Southwest Division of CHL. The 2007-2008 seasons were remarkable for the team, as they were able to win the CHL's regular season title. Winning the game with a record eighty four points, the Sundogs were able to crush the Phoenix Coyotes. In the following year i.e. 2008, the Sundogs were again seen moving relentlessly toward the final game of the Ray Miron President's Cup. Beating New Mexico by two games, the Sundogs also took down the Laredo Bucks and finally the Colorado Eagles in the finale, winning the Ray Miron President's Cup. In the 2010-2011 season, the Sundogs were able to make their way to the post season finishing the regular season with a record sixty points. This was their third time qualifying for the post season where they defeated the Rapid City Rush by five points.
 
With a blazing "S" logo, the team was named after the atmospheric condition "sundog" in which the sunlight reflected on the cirrus clouds creates the illusion of two suns in the sky.
