The Sing Off Live Tour is now making performance stops in various cities across the US, with contestants from NBC's smashing singing competition show, The Sing-Off. The show, which debuted in December 2009, features talented a cappella musicians playing characteristic renditions of contemporary top hits. The live touring shows bring finalists from Season Four alongside last year's winners, the Pentatonix. All these groups will perform their individual numbers, sets and ultimate sing-offs. The upcoming city-trek marks the show's inaugural tour and will be a unique experience for fans that will get to watch the performances up close. The President of Late and Alternative Night Programming of NBC Entertainment, Paul Telegdy, has also confirmed that the live shows will be an opportunity for the fans to get personal and up close with their favorite groups. A cappella music in its live raw energy is purely magical, which is one of the reasons why The Sing Off Live tickets are becoming such a sought-after treat.
The Sing-Off is hosted by 98 Degrees' vocalist Nick Lachey, along with judges Sara Bareilles, Shawn Stockman and Ben Folds. Bareilles left just before the start of Season Four and was then replaced by Jewel. The entire music staff of the show is originally from a community of a cappella musicians. These include Nick Girard, Christopher Diaz, Robert Dietz, Ben Bram, Ed Boyer, Bill Hare and Deke Sharon. US-based a cappella groups such as Puerto Rico were selected through auditions and went far in the competition. The Sing-Off has been graced by many popular artists including Boyz II Men, Neil Diamond, Flo Rida, Jay Sean, Bobby McFadden, Natasha Bedingfield and Smokey Robinson. The show is a production of One Three Media alongside contributions from Sony Television and Outlaw Entertainment. Its executive producers include NBC's 'The Voice' Mark Burnett, Jane Mun, Sam Weisman and Deb Newmyer.
The most exciting aspect of the show is its guaranteed live performance. It has no backup bands, lip-syncing or any other safety net. The featured groups sing in the hope of winning the ultimate golden prize of a hundred grand along with a promising recording contract. The show recently completed its fourth season featuring ten finalists, the best among which included Home Free, Ten and Vocal Rush, in that order. This season was different from the rest since unlike previous season, this time winners were chosen by the judges themselves. These finalists will now be performing at the upcoming Sing Off Live Tour. The winner this season is a Minnesota-based group of five vocalists including tenors Rob Lundquist and Austin Brown; vocal percussionist Adam Rupp; baritone Chris Rupp; and bassist Tim Foust. The group performed a cappella arrangement of Hunter Hayes' I Want Crazy as their competitive final song. These five individuals have already gained popularity as the world's first a cappella country vocal band. They have played thousands of concerts over the years since their formation in 2000. Their debut country album is soon to be released on Columbia Records.
The Sing Off Live will also be featuring the winning group of Season Three called Pentatonix. The band comprises of five members Mitch Grassi, Kevin Olusola, Kirstie Maldonado, Avi Kaplan, and Scott Hoying. The quintet sang Survivor's Eye of the Tiger for their final competition performance and won two hundred grand alongside a record deal with Sony. In 2012, they released their debut EP titled PTX Vol. 1, which peaked at number fourteen on the Billboard 200. This was followed by the second volume of the same EP that climbed to the Billboard 200's tenth spot. To date, they have released three singles including Gangnam Style, Royals, Daft Punk and Little Drummer Boy. They have also collaborated with other artists such as Imagine Dragons' Lindsey Stirling with whom they recorded Radioactive. The song debuted as a Billboard chart topper in digital classical songs category. The Texas-based band is currently gearing up for a world tour this year.
Performances by these young bands mark the most fun moments of their career start so come and be part of them. Grab The Sing Off Live tickets and be there for more surprises.
