The Script
The Script is an Irish trio whose music boasts the kind of artful twists sure to turn all preconceptions on their head. After signing to RCA Label Group imprint Phonogenic, the three-piece Irish rock band from Dublin is currently based in London.

The Script came up with their debut single We Cry which broke the doors down for them. The song brought in the success that never let the band look behind. The Scripts self-titled debut album is noted for blending hip hop lyrical flow with pop melodiousness, state-of-the-art R&B production with anthemic rock dynamics, the Script are a whole new brand of Celtic Soul.

Prior to the formation of The Script, ODonoghue and Sheehan were working as producers while in the US. They have worked with Rodney Jerkins, the Neptunes, Teddy Reilly and Dallas Austin. After returning to Dublin, the duo decided to form a band and recruited Glen. The trio named their band The Script.

In 2007, they soon signed to Phonogenic who released their EP on Last.FM. 25-year-old Danny ODonaghue spent a lot of his childhood singing when the other kids were outside playing football and getting into trouble. 27-year-old Mark Sheehan, while reminiscing his old days, says that where he grew up was a hole shit but music gave him a sense that he could break away.

The Scripts Glen Power believes that the true vision is to hit people in the heart. While recalling how he joined the band he said that his mother always said him to find in life that he is good and the day he picked up the sticks he found it. Danny and Mark met in their early teens, gravitating to each other through a shared obsession with music.

Around this time, the fuzzy channel MTV only would come on in Dublin after midnight. For teens, black culture was just a wave through them all as it was fashion and fun, singing and dancing. Individually, they all had their own talents, but together it just went to another level. Danny and Mark started utilizing their talent and playing with their music as a backroom team.

ODonoghue and Sheeshan landed in the field of arts, music industry. Striking up a songwriting and production partnership, their exceptional talent was recognized early. To their most surprise, the two were invited to the States to collaborate with some of their production heroes. Some of those included legends of modern R & B as Dallas Austin, Teddy Riley, The Neptunes and Rodney Jerkins.

The two were making demos for other artists, but the dynamic shifted when they met fellow Dublin drummer Glen. Introducing Glen, Mark once said that Glen is the funkiest drummer around with real energy and swing but he is also a fantastic guitarist as well as a fantastic keyboard player.

Glen Power had been playing music sessions from fifteen years old, using the money to work on a solo project. He was carrying out his solo project in his home studio. His collaboration with Mark and Danny made him to have his own project on hold. With the release of these singles, the Script went into the production.

While commenting how it felt like working in group, he responded that he had never had a chance with any other band to express himself with such freedom. Together the trio produced three songs in one week. The Scripts came up with their debut single, We Cry, in April 2008.

Issued by Phonogenic/ SonyBMG, the Scripts We Cry reached at number 13 in the UK charts while receiving Single of the Week on RT? 2FM, Today FM and by Jo Whiley on BBC Radio 1. The track was more like a soulful anthem of everyday struggle that manages to be simultaneously bleak and uplifting.

Since there are not always roses at the end, so out of all these things that go wrong in lives, the single contained a message Together We Cry. The Script releases their second single, The Man Who Cant Be Moved. The single was Kevin Hughes Tune of the Week on Music Control Radio, as well as Jo Wileys pet sound.

On November 9th, the Irish-based band received an award at the World Music Awards for Best selling Irish act of 2008. The Scripts appeared on screens with their third single called Breakeven. It was released in Ireland and the UK on November 21, 2008.

After giving several chart hits, the Scripts eventually came up with their self-titled debut album. The album reached number 1 in the UK and Ireland just after one week of its release.

While commenting on their work, the band members said that this is a journey and we are in constant change, constant motion. The album, The Script, is something that touched them deep inside and so touched other people when they listened to it.
