Hailing all the way from Stockholm, the sibling duo, The Knife is on the way to entertain you as part of their tour of North America. The Knife comprises of sister Karin Dreijer Andersson and brother Olof Dreijer. The two of them emerged as a group in 1999. The siblings run their own record company by the name, Rabid Records.
These talented artists are greatly inspired from the forward-thinking electronic music as well as vintage synth pop. They produce music that is playful and electric. The Knife are inspired by the likes of Finnish screenwriter and film director "Aki Kaurismäki," Canadian comedy mockumentary television series "Trailer Park Boys," video game "Doom," musician "David Lynch," "Korean cinema" and American science fiction drama film "Donnie Darko."
Making music in their home studio, they released their debut single in 2000 titled "Afraid of You". It was followed by the release of their self titled album in 2001 through Rabid Records. They were doing tremendously well with their releases, which was evident from their two Grammy Award nominations in 2003.
Their second album titled Deep Cuts was nominated for a Grammy as well. The album gained massive recognition and became a huge hit among fans spread all around the globe. The attention for the album multiplied when "José González" released the cover of their song "Heartbeats." The track was played in the Sony commercial for BRAVIA television sets.
Until 2006, the duo had never performed live on stage. They finally decided to explore the territory in 2006 and went on a tour with the release of their critically acclaimed third album, titled "Silent Shout." To their delight, the duo successfully performed sold out shows all around the globe. The success of their shows was succeeded by a DVD of the tour, which was released under the title "Silent Shout: An Audio Visual Experience" in Sweden.
The Knife have won quite a few "Swedish Grammis" for their compositions. Broadening their horizon in 2009, they worked on penning an opera titled "Tomorrow, In a Year" in collaboration with "Mt. Sims" and "Planningtorock." Based on Charles Darwin's "On the Origin of Species," they released the studio version in 2010.
The siblings have also worked solo. The album "Fever Ray" was released in 2009 showcasing Andersson's work as a solo artist. On the other hand, Olof Dreijer a.k.a. Oni Ayhun, presented the admirers with numerous extended plays in late 2009 and early 2010.
Hinting the fans of their upcoming new material, in 2010 Karin used her official Fever Ray website to announce that she would be reuniting with her brother once again. Working together on the album since then, the siblings released the first single from their fifth album "Shaking the Habitual" in 2013 titled "Full of Fire". Over the years, The Knife have presented the world with five studio albums, one extended play, sixteen singles, two video albums, sixteen music videos, one soundtrack and two short films. The repertoire of popular singles include "Heartbeats," "Pass This On," "Silent Shout," "We Share Our Mothers' Health" and "Like a Pen."
Presenting spectacular performances the duo has won numerous awards including the Swedish Hit Music Award for "Best Video" for "Heartbeats" in 2003, the Scandinavian Alternative Music Award (SAMA) for "Song of the Year" for "Heartbeats" in 2004, the Manifest Award for "Dance/House Techno of the Year'" in 2006 and the Swedish National Radio P3 Gold for "Group of the Year" in 2007.
