Aimee, whose life story is the basis for the musical, was born on October 9, 1890 and belonged to Los Angeles, California. Her birth name was Aimee Elizabeth Kennedy, and she was born in Salford, Ontario, Canada. Her fame reached its peak as a media celebrity as well as a Christian evangelist in 1920s and 1930s, and her demise in 1944 also gained widespread attention owing to the controversial circumstances it took place in. Aimee, also called as Sister Aimee for her religious position, was the founder of Foursquare Church and was famous mainly as a media person who performed over the modern media of that time, including radio.
 


Throughout her life, the lady remained in lime light due to her talent as a media person as well as an Evangelist. Her tour across the North America in her car, that had religious slogans written all over it, also brought much public recognition to her. However, her claim remained controversial as people argued about her apparent good health and neat clothes could not testify for the kidnapping.
 
Aimee McPherson died in 1944 due to an overdose of her medicines, leading to kidney failure. Her life story was full of controversies and achievements that make the musical based on it quite intriguing. Debuting in 2005, Saving Aimee was initially performed at White Plains Performing Arts Center. Later on, a revised production by the director Eric Schaeffer was performed at Signature Theater, Arlington, Virginia. The revised musical was choreographed by Christopher d'Amboise, and featured Carolee Carmello in the leading role. The upcoming performance of Saving Aimee is scheduled to be performed at 5^th Avenue Theatre.
