To celebrate this Mother's Day, FY Entertainment brings you the Mother's Day Soul Jam at the Count Basie Theatre. It will feature three of the most prominent R&B groups, "The Stylistics," "Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes" and "The Manhattans." The Stylistics which is an R&B vocal group, is regarded as one of the best among the Philadelphia based soul groups of 70s. Active since 1968, they currently consist of four members Harold Eban Brown, Herbie Murrell, Jason Sharpe and Airrion Love. So far, the band has released a total of 22 studio albums which produced top ten R&B hits including "You Are Everything," "Stop, Look, Listen," "I'm Stone in Love with You," "Break Up to Make Up," "You Make Me Feel Brand New," and many more. In 2004, The Stylistics was inducted into the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. The band has also featured in the Friday Night with Jonathan Ross.
Next in the line is The Manhattans which captured the hearts of R&B lovers in 1980 with the release of "Shining Star" and "Kiss and Say Goodbye," two of their best-selling singles that sold around million copies each. The Manhattan is also a vocal group based in New Jersey. Formed in 1962, the band is a little older than The Stylistics. Currently the band consists of five members, Alvin Pazant, Edward Bivins, Charles Hardy, Harsey Hemphill and Lee Williams. The band's extensive discography includes nineteen studio albums, eight compilation albums and one live album. Their gold certified albums include "It Feels So Good," "The Manhattans," and "After Midnight."
Last but definitely not the least group to feature in the Mother's Day Soul Jam is Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes which, like The Stylistics, is a Philadelphia based R&B band. Formed in 1954, the group disbanded in 1966 and has reunited recently in 2013, mainly for the Soul Train Cruise. Harold Melvin & the Blue Notes' repertoire includes a number of genres like R&B, soul, disco and doo-wop. They have so far released a total of nine studio albums and eight compilation albums. They were quite famous in the70s when they produced hits like "If You Don't Know Me by Now," "Bad Luck," "The Love Lost," "Wake Up Everybody" and many more.
