The London Philharmonic Orchestra is based in London and plays in the Royal Festival Hall. It is one of the major orchestras of the United Kingdom and is known for its great musical performances in various events and festivals.

Sir Thomas Beecham was the man who formed this group in 1932 with founding associate conductor was Malcolm Sargent. The London Philharmonic Orchestra played its first concert on 7 October 1932 at the Queen's Hall, London and as they say the rest is history.

After enthralling the London audience for twenty years, London Philharmonic Orchestra undertook its first tour of India, Australia and the Far East in 1962. The London Philharmonic Orchestra opened the 1980s by celebrating its golden jubilee. A contemporaneous book on the opera was released that listed the famous musicians who had worked with it in fifty years. But this fifty years celebration was just a start as the group reached new heights in years to come.

Today, London Philharmonic Orchestra is regarded as the musical ambassador of London. From its humble begging many years ago to its now ever-growing international fame, the Orchestra has truly taken their music to the whole world.

Currently, London Philharmonic Orchestra is a big ensemble of talented musicians that perform in many classical concerts and big events. It is the main resident orchestra of the Glyndebourne Festival Opera and it also performs at the Congress Theatre, Eastbourne and the Brighton Dome.

The Orchestra releases its music on CDs through its own label. Besides this, it is also actively involve in some film and television music. Indeed, the London Philharmonic Orchestra has made soundtracks for some very famous movies like Lawrence of Arabia, Philadelphia, The Mission and The Lord of the Rings film trilogy.

Not to forget its contribution in video game series Dragon Quest, Symphonic Poem Hope for Final Fantasy XII, the soundtrack for Xenosaga Episode I and 1993 television production of Gershwin's Porgy and Bess.
