Gaining fame as a contestant on the fifth season of the FOX reality show American Idol, Kellie Pickler, today, is an American country music artist and television personality. Though she finished sixth in the American Idol show, the former waitress and Miss North Carolina contestant charmed American audiences with her Southern twang and blonde ambition, resulting in a contract with BNA Records that yielded her debut album, Small Town Girl, in the fall of 2006 and an eponymous sophomore release in 2008 with the hit single "Don't You Know You're Beautiful". The 42nd Annual CMA Award nominees nominated Kellie for New Artist of the Year!

Biography
Born on 28th June, 1986, at Stanly Memorial Hospital in Albemarle, North Carolina, USA, Kellie Pickler is the daughter of Cynthia Morton and Clyde "Bo" Raymond Pickler, Jr. Her birth name is Kellie Dawn Pickler and nicknames are Kelsie and Pickles. She is the result of a teenage pregnancy and was abandoned when she was a toddler. Her father was a frequent drug user and petty thief who spent most of his time in and out of prison during her childhood. However, Kellie's grandparents gave her the love and support she couldn't find elsewhere, and she grew up under their watchful eyes in the tiny community of Albemarle, North Carolina.

Although she was only an average student, Kellie's beauty set her apart from her classmates and she went on to win the Miss Stanly County pageant at the age of 17 before competing for Miss North Carolina. She later enrolled at nearby Stanly Community College to study cosmetology. Whereas, in 2005, Kellie put her studies on hold to audition for season five of American Idol. It proved to be a fortunate decision, as she advanced to the final six before she was eliminated on April 26, 2006. During American Idol, she met her personal 'idol' and strongest influence, the country music star Dolly Parton.

Discography
Her debut album, Small Town Girl, released on October 31, 2006, topped Billboard's Top Country Albums and landed at #9 on Billboard Top 200 selling over 79,000 copies in its first week. Its sales made her the best selling new country solo artist of 2006. The album includes five songs that Pickler co-wrote with songwriters Chris Lindsey, Aimee Mayo and Karyn Rochelle. It was certified gold by the RIAA, and it produced three singles on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts:
a) Red High Heels was Kellie's first single debuted on September 13, 2006, whose music video was officially released on October 20, 2006. It reached #1 on the GAC Top 20 Countdown on February 9th and received a nomination for the CMT Video Awards for .Best Breakthrough Artist Video;
b) I Wonder was at #14 on the Billboard Hot Country Songs charts;
c) Things That Never Cross a Man's Mind was at #16.Kellie's self titled sophomore album, Kellie Pickler, was released on September 30 in 2008, and it produced two single hits; Don't You Know You're Beautiful which reached the Top 25 and Best Days of Your Life which she co-wrote with Taylor Swift. This album debuted at number nine on the Billboard 200 chart, becoming her second consecutive Top-Ten album, and her second consecutive number one on the Top Country Albums chart.

One of the future aspirations of Kellie Pickler includes the opening act for Taylor Swift's tour Fearless in March, 2009.
