The Julliard String Quartet is an American classical music string quartet that was founded back in 1946 at New York City’s Juilliard School. The original members of the group were cellist Arthur Winograd, violist Raphael Hillyer, violinist Robert Mann and violinist Robert Koff. Its lineup has changed with time and today it is home to violinist Ronald Copes, violinist Joseph Lin, cellist Joel Krosnick and violist Samuel Rhodes. Its members have gone on to head institutions such as the Cleveland Institute of Music where former violinist Joel Smimoff is the president.
