Jeans Yves Thibadet is French and he was born in Lyon in 1961. Both his parents were kind of self taught musicians, his mother was a seasoned pianist whereas his father fluently play the violin. While he was just a kid of five years he went to a conservatory in his hometown. It was at this conservatory that he developed a passion for learning music especially piano. He had the privilege of learning from some of the best teachers in town. At the age of seven he gave his first public performance and in 1974 the Lyons Conservatory awarded him a gold medal.
While Yves was in his early teens he went on to study piano at the Paris Conservatory. Some of his fellow musicians at this conservatory included masters like Lucette Descaves and Aldo Ciccolini. At the age of fifteen he won Prix du Conservatoire and just three years after that he was able to win the prestigious Young Concert Artists Auditions held in New York. He is one of the very few artists who received praise from the legendary pianist Vladimir Horowitz.
Yves has performed with some of the world's best artists as well as orchestras in a career that spans over three decades. He has collaborated with Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Orchestre National de France, Los Angeles Philharmonic and Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra. Some of the seasoned artists that regularly perform and record with Jeans Yves Thibadet are violinists Joshua Bell and Julia Fisher, violist Yuri Bashmet, soprano Renee Fleming, and cellists Gautier Capucon and Truls Mork. From a long time he has been collaborating with Decca records and has released forty studio albums. For his outstanding services and contributions to the music world Yves was given the prestigious Chevalier Ordre des Arts et des Lettres from the French government in 2001.
