This includes legendary bands and popular acts such as Iron Maiden, Disturbed, Motley Crue, Rob Zombie, Dethklok, Korn, Slayer, Avenged Sevenfold, Alice Cooper, Megadeth, Motorhead, KISS, Godsmack and In Flames. This fascinating Montreal metal festival has also played host to the likes of Slipknot, Deftones, Marilyn Manson, System of a Down, Children of Bodom and Five Finger Death punch. The festival has also inspired a sister event, going by the name of Heavy T.O. and held in Toronto. Bands who play at this Montreal festival often play the next gig at Heavy T.O.

Headliners include Metallica and Slayer with other bands including The Offspring, Anthrax, Three Days Grace, Apocalyptica, BABYMETAL, Whitechapel, Lamb of God, Epica, Hatebreed, Alestorm, We Came As Romans and Symphony X. For three long and exciting days, the who's who of metal and hard rock will be playing live music in one of Canada's most exciting cities. Metallica, one of the headliners at this Montreal festival, hail from Los Angeles and have dominated heavy and thrash metal since 1981. Their music has been released by the likes of Universal Music, Vertigo, Elektra and Warner Bros.
Metallica has been associated with the likes of Megadeth, Black Label Society and Ozzy Osbourne. Its members today are Lars Ulrich, James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett and Robert Trujillo. As one of the Big Four of thrash metal, alongside Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax, Metallica rose to fame as an underground band and then gained mainstream popularity. Its albums have ranked Number One on the Billboard 200 and the band itself was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2009. Overall, it has released nine studio albums, five EPs, four live albums and thirty seven singles. The band has also won nine Grammy Awards and is the first band with five of its albums consecutively debuting at Number One on the Billboard 200 charts.
Metallica's self–titled 1991 release has seen more than sixteen million of its copies sold in the US alone, the Best Selling Album of the SoundScan Era. As one of the most successful bands of all time, more than one hundred and twenty million records have been sold globally and the fourth Best Selling Music Artist of the SoundScan era. Regarded by many as the most influential band in heavy metal, it will set up shop at the upcoming Montreal heavy metal festival.
Slayer, a thrash metal band and one of the Big Four, will also be headlining at this Montreal hard rock and heavy metal festival. Founded in 1981, its music has been released by the likes of Nuclear Blast and Def Jam. It has played and collaborated with Metallica, Megadeth and Anthrax.
