Details of Dark Tranquility and the Ticket Luck value
One of the longest-standing bands from the Gothenburg metal scene, Dark Tranquillity is a melodic death metal band. Dark Tranquility is one of the pioneers of the melodic death metal genre, along with In Flames and At the Gates.
Their music features blending layers of rapid guitar lines with harmony-rich electronic keyboard washes and extremely precise rhythms underneath Stanne's abstract growled lyrics.
The band was formed in 1989, under the name Septic Broiler as a thrash metal band and has since had a fairly stable line-up. Shortly after the release of their demo cassette tape entitled Enfeebled Earth in 1990, the band changed their name to Dark Tranquillity and changed their musical style.
Followed to their debut album were two more demos: Trail of Life Decayed (1991) and A Moonclad Reflection (1992). In 1993, Anders Frid?n, Dark Tranquillity's original lead vocalist, left the band and was replaced by Mikael Stanne.
Fredrik Johansson was recruited to take over rhythm guitar duties but was later asked to leave Dark Tranquillity due to his lack of devotion to the band. At the point when they were launching their album Projector, the group also signed to Century Media Records. They since have remained stable in their line-up and musical style.
Dark Tranquility came up with their debut studio album called Skydancer. It is Dark Tranquillity's only album thus far that does not feature Mikael Stanne as primary vocalist, as Anders Friden, later of In Flames fame, sang on Skydancer.
Skydancer was re-launched in 2000 on Century Media Records including the Of Chaos and Eternal Night EP with new artwork. The band released their second full-length studio album, the Gallery, on November 27, 1995.
The album was the first full length release to feature Mikael Stanne on lead vocals, thus saw a more intense approach on the vocals than on the debut album.
The band launched their third full-length album, The Mind's I, in 1996. The Mind's I is the first album coming with the change with no use of English language and personal themes in lyrics. The band's creativity and musical development drove the album forward, making it the first album that the band dropped their guitar tuning by one whole step, making a heavier sound.
Projector was the fourth full-length studio album, released on June 21, 1999. The album marked a major departure for the band renowned as one of the founders of the Gothenburg Sound. The album featured almost as much piano and clean guitar as traditional metal and was met with mixed opinions by fans.
Continuing to advance the musical changes, Dark tranquility released Haven in 2000. A mix of melody, electronic pads and heavy metal gave new fans to the band. Damage Done was their sixth album, while Character was the seventh album, released in January 24, 2005.
Their recent album Fiction appeared in 2007. From 1995 to 2002, all of Dark Tranquillity's recordings were produced by Fredrik Nordstr?m. After 2002 every recording the band released was self-produced until Fiction, released in 2007. Fiction was co-produced with another well known melodic death metal producer, Tue Madsen.
In 2004, The Mind's I was re-issued on Osmose Productions and in 2005 by Century Media Records with new layouts, the four-song Enter Suicidal Angels EP and two live videos. In 2005, Century Media Records re-released The Gallery with new layouts and five cover songs as bonus tracks.
Dark Tranquillity have recently toured US and UK with The Haunted, Into Eternity, and Scar Symmetry for the North America Metal For The Masses tour. The band is working on their upcoming live dvd which is expected sometime in 2008.
