Burning Brides
Burning Brides, an American Hard rock and heavy metal band, was formed in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1999. The band was formed by the Dimitri Coats and his wife Melanie Campbell. Dimitri and Melanie both were studying in Julliard School in New York; they got acquainted to each other after they both did their graduation, and soon became a couple. Back then Dimitri was studying acting and Melanie was studying for the art of dance. Dimitri said, A huge part of our sound comes from the fact that Melanie and I fell in love through music together.
Later on Mike Ambs joined the band as the drummer. Burning Brides started building a sound fan base through their live performances with bands like Queens of the Stone Age and Greenhornes etc, with their very first live performance being on May, 1999.
After they got them self signed with a local record company called File Thirteen Records they released their first album called Fall of the Plastic Empire back in 17 April, 2001.Though it earned it fame among the fans a lot but didn't made it on any of the music charts and didn't made much success financially as well. Hence they were dropped by there record label. Later on another record label called V2 signed them up and released their album fall of the Plastic Empire again in 2002, with a lot more advertisement, which helped the band and their album a lot and was rated 5 stars by NME.
Two years later in 29 June 2004, they released their second album called Leave no Ashes featuring a drummer of the band Jason Kourkounis. Though that album didn't make as much progress as the re-released version of Fall of the Plastic Empire did, but still a song from that album called Heart Full of Black received good fan apraisal and was featured in Guitar hero and Burnout 3.
Later on drummer Jason Kourkounis droped out of the band because of the diferences between Dimitri and Melanie. Dimitri feared that his break up with Melanie might end the Burning Brides as well. But soon their differences were reduced and the band lived on. They got themselves, the Guzzards former member, Pete Beeman. This replacement was followed by their Third independent album called Hang Love, released on 19 June, 2007. It was recorded in California's studio called, Shneeberger's Arcadia in just a month and a half. Talking about their third album Dimitri Coats of Burning Brides says, our band is all about opposites. Even the name Burning Brides and the way we sound; there's a fine line between beauty and darkness.
Hang Love is a fine mixture of Hard Rock and Pop genre and is a Rock album in a true sense. Hence it is appraised by all the true Rock lovers. And just to show some love towards the Burning Brides music, guitar maker of the bands like the Eagles of Death Metal and Queens of the Stone Age, Mark Fuqua, designed a special guitar for Dimitri Coats and said, You've re-inspired me. Rock and roll is back!
Hang Love is their first album that they released independently, with distribution contract signed with Caroline/EMI. This shows that their music doesn't need any labels, they're better off with themselves and with their music.
